Yes, but...

We booked this hotel mainly because of the convenient location to LAX and free shuttle service. We had to wait a long time for the shuttle to arrive, even though when I called, he said 10 minutes. When I called 20 minutes later, he said 10 minutes. After a few more of these (and about 90 minutes) he finally showed up. They said there was bad traffic, but there was none and the ride took 5 min. Also, the club next to the hotel was really loud. We couldn't hear it from our room, but a room closer might. We did enjoy the convenience of the Santa Monica bus #3, we could get to the beaches, Marina Del Rey and Santa Monica shopping district easily. The stop was 1 block from the hotel. There is also a grocery store right next to the hotel.

Cost Not Worth It

The hotel was frustrating to us because they force you to park a car using a valet. This added over $100 extra dollars to our price. Furthermore, the hotel pool changes into a club around 4 pm on the weekends which lasts until 11 or so. It is loud and frustrating if you are trying to relax after a day out exploring CA. Also, the room was quite sparse for the price paid. There is no dresser and only four hangers. This made it difficult to keep clothes off of the floor because there is no where to even set them i.e. no table on which they could be set. All in all, I would never recommend this hotel to anyone if you are looking to relax.

Nice neutral stay

Nice decent hotel for the money. Only major complaint is the fees that werent disclosed when booking. There is a parking fee and a daily fee for "incidentals" that need to be put on a credit card, something the poor man infront of me didnt have. The valet guys were more than accomodating! The price of a cup of coffee at the restaurant was astronomical, so we went to the diner close-by instead.

Disappointing...

This was a 2nd stay at the hotel of my California trip, the last day before we flew home. While we did like the layout of this room better than our 1st stay, the bathroom was a disaster. There was still trash in the trashcan, and I didnt know the towels were dirty until I tried to dry off after taking a shower. There was no bar of soap, and even though the front desk said they would send up a bar, they never did. 1 of the front desk girls was very nice and did let me use their printer to print a boarding pass, despite protests from the other desk girl. The valet guys couldnt have been nicer, and were very accomodating!

Unique experience

This was a great place to stay with very nice staff. Everyone was very helpful and friendly. I loved the hotel lobby. The rooms were a little different, but I would definitely stay there again. It was a very quick ride from the LAX airport as well.

Would not be a top choice

For the price you can't complain, location wise not the best if you are trying to visit universal studios, downtown L.A. Etc... Also did not like the fact the 20.00 per night parking, no coffee pot in the room, except for the expensive bar with 2.00 soda for an 6oz can. Other than that hotel was ok, people were friendly which is a must!

Silly Rabbit, This hotel is for kids!

We were looking forward to celebrating our anniversary in the "cool" beach climate of the Los Angeles coast, so we found a great deal on a 2 nights stay at the "trendy" and "chic" Custom Hotel. We read other reviews that were both bad and good, but we decided to have our own experience with this Hotel. We knew about the expensive valet parking ahead of time so we decided that we would park away from the Hotel, because we didn't plan to spend alot of time in the Hotel. Beware that you can load and unload your vehicle in front of the hotel, but you must park on the other side of the super market parking lot next door. We arrived 10 minutes before check-in time and took advantage of the very trendy lobby lavatory. It was nice and different. It took a moment for my eyes to adjust to the dim room before I could use the lavatory (restroom). Upon checking in I was asked for my name, ID, and the credit card I used for my reservation. I was a little hesitant to give my credit card because my hotel expenses had already been collected. The clerk assured me that this was only a step in the hotel's check-in policy, so I complied. He even made sure not to have me initial the line on the check-in slip that allows them to charge my card for any additional hotel services and I didn't. I ended up having to cart my bags up to the 5th floor, because no bell hop was available. We went to our room and freshened up for the rest of our day away from the hotel. On our way out I had a notion to ask the clerk who had just come in on a shift change about the hotel breakfast and the hotel credit card policy. She then informed me that my card was on file and $100 would be on hold until checkout for incidental damages or charges. This knowledge bothered me for a moment, because I had not signed for them to take such action, but I decided to make the most of my weekend. She also informed me that we must return to the front desk the next morning to receive our breakfast vouchers. At this point I wa

Close to airport

We all enjoyed our recent stay. The hotel looked recently updated with very minimalist modern look (this includes the rooms). The staff were very friendly and helpful. Convenient shuttle service to the airport. Note: Make sure you get a room on the opposite side of the pool bar/nightclub, it tends to get a bit noisy.

not my style

I read other reviews of how snobby the hotel staff was. I WISH I WOULD HAVE HEEDED THEIR WARNINGS!!!!!! The whole wanna-be "modern" motif was just horrible. I have nothing good to say about this hotel. In order to run a business, you need to treat the people who give you money with respect. Maybe that whole snobby treat you like crap thing is alluring to some. If it isn't to you, AVOID THE CUSTOM HOTEL!!!!
