Not convenient for Springfield history sites

If you are travelling to Springfield to take in history sites of downtown, choose a site closer to downtown as this hotel is about a 10 minute drive out of town. This is basically a conference hotel so little character, basic amenities. Staff at check in were less than friendly, in the middle of our check in staff member picked up phone and proceeded to talk leaving us to presume he was finished with us. As we only stayed one night, we did not interact with any other staff so left with the general inpression that staff lacking in customer service orientation, based on this one person. Panera bread cafe across street, good for breakfast.

Outstanding Hotel

Clean rooms, well appointed. Great restaurant on-site and a nice bar just off the main floor that's good for people-watching. Hotel is host to weddings, reunions, and conferences due to large space to accomodate bid groups

Very poor management

We arrived at hotel and was given a Smoking room, even though my Hotels.com receipt shows that I reserved, and paid for a Non- smoking room. I called the manager and was told they only reserve "a" room, not a specific type? I never heard of such a thing. I checked out and had to go elsewhere. Very poor.
