Hotel fine, our room was unbearable

The hotel is fine: clean, convenient, centrally located. However, when we got to our room on the second night, the room was unbearably cold. It turned out that the window latch was broken so we had no protection from the howling wind and freezing temperatures outside (this is Ottawa in May). We called the front desk for help and an employee came to take a look at the window. He agreed that the room was too cold and offered to move us to another room for the night. Unfortunately, that was the last we heard from him. He never got in touch with us and my two calls to the reception went unanswered. I was going to go downstairs to deal with the problem, but we were so tired that we eventually fell asleep fully clothed under multiple blankets. The next morning the front desk staff was very apologetic, but couldn't comp us the room because we had prepaid for it on Hotels.com. They waived all the incidental charges, but that hardly made up for the discomfort we had to deal with the previous night. We're in the process of negotiating a refund with Hotels.com. Aside from our specific experience, the hotel is a decent deal if you want a reasonable place to stay within walking distance of Parliament Hill. Just keep in mind that the hotel does not own its own parking, so you'll have to dish out $17 per night without in/out privileges (on the weekends you can park for free on the streets).

Great Location, nothing to complain

The hotel is very convenient; the location is perfect for tourists. It is not an outstanding hotel but very good for the money.

Perfect for a get-away

Withing walking distance of so many downtown activities. Very friendly staff. Extremely clean rooms - way better than I expected. Room was just a little small (bathroom, around the bed), a bit tight for maneuvering with two people. That would not stop me from staying there again. It was perfect.

Outstanding Hotel

It was Valentine's Day, we arrived late failing to make dinner reservations..the staff went out of their way by providing us a very nice table in the bar...the Valentine's Day special dinner was very good....

great hotel!

This is a great hotel in a great location. Be aware that there is a $15 fee to park which isn't mentioned on the website. As well there is an extra charge to use wireless internet in your room. The bed was very comfortable and the room was very clean.
