    The hotel is fine: clean, convenient, centrally located. However, when we got to our room on the second night, the room was unbearably cold. It turned out that the window latch was broken so we had no protection from the howling wind and freezing temperatures outside (this is Ottawa in May). We called the front desk for help and an employee came to take a look at the window. He agreed that the room was too cold and offered to move us to another room for the night. Unfortunately, that was the last we heard from him. He never got in touch with us and my two calls to the reception went unanswered. I was going to go downstairs to deal with the problem, but we were so tired that we eventually fell asleep fully clothed under multiple blankets. The next morning the front desk staff was very apologetic, but couldn't comp us the room because we had prepaid for it on Hotels.com. They waived all the incidental charges, but that hardly made up for the discomfort we had to deal with the previous night. We're in the process of negotiating a refund with Hotels.com. Aside from our specific experience, the hotel is a decent deal if you want a reasonable place to stay within walking distance of Parliament Hill. Just keep in mind that the hotel does not own its own parking, so you'll have to dish out $17 per night without in/out privileges (on the weekends you can park for free on the streets).

Location. The Crowne Plaza Hotel Ottawa stands in downtown Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, two blocks from the Sparks Street Mall. The Rideau Canal and Parliament buildings are located six blocks away.

Hotel Features. The on-site 101 Café highlights international cuisine and serves buffet-style breakfasts, lunches, and à la carte dinners. Tim Horton's 24-hour coffee shop specializes in homemade donuts, and prepares soup and sandwiches. The casual Lounge 101 serves drinks and appetizers. The Crowne Plaza Hotel Ottawa offers 16 function rooms that accommodate up to 1,500 people. An business center offers high-speed Internet access, and fax, photocopy, print and courier services for fees. Wireless Internet access is available in public areas for a fee. Expert Tip. The hotel concierge can supply information about the historic Byward Market, located one-and-one-half kilometers from the hotel. This outdoor market occupies four square blocks and features food, art and craft vendors who display everything from fresh Ontario-grown produce to the works of local artists. The market is open 363 days a year and hosts art exhibitions and musical entertainment.
