    I'll be brief. Australia is famous for friendly people, but service levels seem to suffer in that country greatly. I was saddened by the apethy and often abrasiveness of almost all whom I came in contact who had a customer facing role. The Crowne Plaza Canberra seems to be immune. Wonderfully situated at the heart of Canberra; a 2 minute walk from major shopping and dining; and only a few minutes drive from major sightseeing destinations. The service was professional and friendly -- even warm. Up to the standards I would expect from an international brand. There's no doubt this will be my home base on every future visit to Canberra.

Location. The Crowne Plaza Hotel Canberra is located in Canberra, Australia, adjacent to the National Convention Center and Casino Canberra in the city center.

Hotel Features. A contemporary hotel with spare, simple exterior lines, the lobby features deep blue panels and white expanses. Long, narrow skylights traverse the length of the high ceiling. Floor-to ceiling windows overlook the city. The hotel includes extensive recreational facilities, restaurants and business services.

Crowne Plaza Hotel Canberra's restaurant, Redsalt, serves steaks and other grilled meats, seafood buffets on Friday and Saturday nights and buffet breakfasts. Binara One, the hotel's backlit bar, offers designer furnishings, an outdoor terrace and drinks and snacks.

The business center includes high-speed wired and wireless Internet access and computers. Wireless Internet access is complimentary in the atrium lounge area. The hotel provides six meeting rooms with seating for from six to 100.

Recreational amenities include an outdoor pool, a spa tub, a health club with trainers, massage services, a sauna and a recreation and sports court.

The museum houses more than 200,000 historical items, including art, clothing, vehicles, musical instruments and ceramics. The facility is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. seven days a week (excluding Christmas). Admission is free.
