Great location, a little dated, rude staff

The location is awesome, right in the heart of downtown Montreal. The rooms/decor are a bit dated, but clean and comfortable and a decent value for the money. As for the staff, Isabelle was very friendly and super-helpful, and she seemed to be working all weekend. However, everyone else I dealt with there was downright rude. I parked a rental car at the hotel, and I thought I would get a new car-park ticket each time I brought the car back, not just one for the entire stay-- well, when I dropped it off for the second time and requested a ticket, I was berated for several minutes by a valet telling me that I had to have my first ticket over and over, until I finally interrupted him, said I was sorry that I screwed up, but could he please just tell me how to fix it. Now, I find it hard to believe that I'm the first guest to ever lose their little yellow ticket! He finally-- with heaps of attitude-- gave me a new one and wrote in my ticket number. Then, we asked the hotel for breakfast recommendations in the area, and they recommended their $15 buffet. When we explained that that wasn't quite what we were looking for and asked if there were any other good breakfast places around, the answer was simply "No." We got no help or recommendations at all, and in the heart of downtown Montreal I find it hard to believe that the Marriott's buffet is the only breakfast worth having. We eventually just went online and searched for recommendations, and ended up at a fabulous place (there are good restaurants in the area!). So, to recap, the hotel has a great location and good potential, but someone should put Isabelle in charge because she's the only one who knows how to treat guests. As it is, I probably wouldn't recommend this place.

Nice Place

We only stayed there one night, but from what we experienced it was quite nice. The room was more than sufficient and quite comfortable. The view out of our window was a little weird, though: it was a hotel right next door's windows... kinda creepy, but we kept the shades closed! Other than that (which I'm sure can't be helped) it was a wonderful stay!

This hotel did feature a good location, but the rooms are tired and really need an update. Cleanliness was good, the breakfast buffet marginal, but overall the next time I'm in Montreal, I'll be trying a new location...

Good location

The room was very comfortable, but there was only one working elevator, which meant waiting ten minutes to go up or down. the second elevator was out of order, and the service elevator was frequently in use. The staff were not terribly friendly. The best thing was the location--not far from McGill, the Park, Saint-Laurent, or Vieux Montreal.

This hotel is nice but not exceptional, the location is perfect, but the overall ambiance is only okay. Staff including concierge were very nice.

Good hotel

Good overall. The only problem during our stay was an out-of-service elevator (they have two in all), but even so the wait time was not outrageous.

Great room for the money

Very good central location, good size rooms, very clean and quiet.

Great Value, Great Location

We stayed at the Courtyard Marriot in Downtown for its central location and because it had a great room rate. The rooms were just okay, but since we had come to explore the city, we didn't spend much time in the room, beyond sleeping at night. For that, it was perfect. Clean, comfortable and equipped with free wi-fi. The location was PERFECT. Close to the nightlife, Old Port and the shopping with a Bixi stand walking distance from the hotel. As for the service, it was truly exceptional. Everyone on staff was extremely polite and helpful and, even when we accidentally inconvenienced them, they were very patient and understanding. We really enjoyed our stay there and would STRONGLY recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Montreal.

Good hotel

Good hotel. The pool was good for the kids. The location is convenient for lots of things.
