Very close to airport

We just needed a hotel that was comfortable and close the airport. The staff were very friendly and eager-to-please. However the menu was limited and bar/restaurant under-staffed. Suited our purposes for a one-nighter with two adults, two kids, and they shuttle to the airport which was great. Would stay here again.

Best for short term stay

This hotel is very clean and neat. It also extremely modern. The draw back is that it took us a few minutes to figure out how to turn on the lights. It's almost like they modernized themselves out of normalcy. The hotel is located "near" the Gatwick airport. So most travelers are just looking for clean sheets and a hot shower, not extreme modern technology. I also put near in quotes because they do not have an airport shuttle and the walk from the airport is down the street underneath an overpass and through some trees. For two people whose flight was late arriving this was not the situation we were happy about with ALL of our luggage at 3am. Another sour point was that the INTERNET IS NOT FREE!!!! they charge you by the hour which is ridiculous. For all the modern inclusions clearly the most convenient should be free Wifi. So in the end it is a very nice looking hotel and great for the price but not so easy to get to from the airport and no free internet. Staff was very very however.

A Pleasant Surprise

We did not know that when we booked our one night stay at the Courtyard Marriott Gatwick Airport, that we would be staying at a brand new hotel. They had been open only a week when we arrived, but you would never know it. Everything was perfect. The hotel is of the latest style and very clean. The room was perfect. It was clean, well laid out, and very comfortable. The bathroom was almost elegant with designer fixtures and a large door for easy access. Now European rooms are somewhat smaller than those we expect in the U.S., and this two double bed room was smaller than what we would be used to back home. But there was still plenty of room for three adults. The price was very affordable and the hotel is a short walk from the south terminal of Gatwick on paved sidewalks. We very much enjoyed our stay there and highly recommend it to travelers who need to make connections from planes and trains.
