Trip Type: Romance Review 1 of 18Costa Rica Marriott
Very nice, clean anc comfortly located near the airport hotel. Very friendly staff. Food and bar are overpriced relative to the area. Over quality is well within expectations.

Trip Type: Overnight Stay Review 2 of 18Needs some updating, but location is very convenient
For a stopover before or after a flight to SJ Int´l Airport, the location can´t be beat. Restaurant food is nothing to write home about. Hotel info is dated and wrong, for example, directions to fitness center. Fitness center, btw, is superb. We arrived with plenty of laundry to do but sink stopper was broken. After waiting 1 hour but without completion of the repair, we requested and were given another room. There, the TV didn´t work, probably because of poor cable, not the hotel´s fault. The luxury bed is too soft and a down comforter is absurd in the tropics, unless you´re going for the photo'op. All in all, it´s got its pluses and minuses. Weigh them for yourself.

Lovely grounds and pools but a very expensive hotel. Mediocre food with again, very expensive prices.

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 4 of 18Free Wifi is not free.
Overall this is a very nice hotel. It's very beautiful. The rich woods and iron used throughout the building are very pleasant to look at. It's surrounded by beautiful coffee plants and other lush vegetation. Beware of all the little things though. This place will nickel and dime you if you aren't careful. Make sure to get breakfast included in the price of your room, otherwise expect to pay about $25.00 USD per person. Try to eat at other local non hotel establishments because they mark up their food prices here. Also the wifi isn't free. They expect you to make a food purchase in order to get it. Sometimes you'll get a nice server you can ask for the code from in the restaurants. Don't have your clothes washed because they charge an arm and a leg. Internet access in the rooms is $14.95 a day which is more expensive than other hotels that don't include it free usually charge. The gift shop is overpriced. You can get the same things down the road for way cheaper. Overall again this is a nice place. I would recommend to just stay here to sleep. You can save a lot of money on food and other things by venturing out a few blocks to local establishments.

Trip Type: Overnight Stay Review 5 of 18Outstanding Hotel
However, know that the Marriott no longer provides free shuttle from the airport (although some of their competitors still provide this convenience). They have not removed this service from their web site. Also, even though they do provide the exit tariff service, they do charge $6.00 for this service, which does not appear anywhere on their web site either. But the hotel is magnificent, has several great restaurants and a great pool.

Trip Type: Overnight Stay Review 6 of 18Best Part of My Stay in Costa Rica
I did a lot of research prior to booking my stay with the Marriott San Jose, Costa Rica. I was thrilled with the property, the food, and the staff. I arrive extra early in the morning and the reception was extremely gracious. They offered me a small early check in fee and I was able to get into my room without a problem. The hotel was beautiful. The grounds were well maintained. It is much prettier in person than the pictures! My room was wonderful. It was very clean, modern and exactly the high standards I have come to appreciate from the Marriott Hotel. Bed was comfortable, pillows soft. Large flat screen TV. I went down to the bar and had dinner served to me there while watching football. They had 4 TV's in the bar so you could eat and watch sports, etc. The service was great. The food was great. I went to the little coffee shop they had on site and had a great cup of coffee in the morning. I used the work out facility. It was modern and had everything I needed to get a good work out in. All in all it was one of the best things about my trip. I would stay there again and would recommend it highly to anyone who will be in the area and needs a clean comfortable place to stay.

Trip Type: Romance Review 7 of 18Beautiful hotel
The hotel is very nice with great amenities and tasty food (though not enough diversity if you are a foodie). My only complaint about the facility is that the hallways are extremely loud, paved with saltillo tile, which makes them even louder. It is virtually impossible to sleep.

Trip Type: Business Review 8 of 18Restaurants overpriced
This hotel is great, but the food is terribly overpriced for what it was. Not many choices nearby unless you have a driver or know someone.

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 9 of 18Beautiful find
This was a beautiful hotel, very close to the airport but felt miles away. We used it as a brief stopping point on our way to our final destination, but wished that we had a couple of more days to enjoy the hotel. It was very beautiful and charming. We had late night room service-order the casado (typical Costa Rican dish of rice, beans, and plantains)-delicious. Also the hotel offers the option for paying the exit tax for Costa Rica at the hotel saving you time by avoiding the long airport line. Take advantage. The only downside were the $7 bottles of water in the room. Buy water elsewhere for less and bring it with you. We felt very safe in this hotel as well, which was essential since we were traveling with our family.

Trip Type: Business Review 13 of 18Great room for the money
Great hotel located near the San Jose International Airport. Hotel facilities are wonderful. Very nice staff, for the most part. The best part was the option to be able to pay the airport tax at the hotel upon check out in order to save time at the airport.

Trip Type: Overnight Stay Review 14 of 18Lovely hotel.
Lovely hotel. Bit far out of town, but has everything if you're not fussed about going into San jose.
