Trip Type: Family Review 32 of 92Cute Place, Could Be Better
I felt that the hotel was really good in all aspects except for two: 1) the paint used in the majority of the hotel was a poor choice, it made everything look cheap when it didn't have to because it really wasn't, and 2) the room layout wasn't optimal, though the room itself was very good, I found it was small and could have been made better.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 34 of 92Good location, at a good price
The hotel is a bit run-down but still OK. Room was clean. I was given a room on my first night, which had a very noisy air-conditioner. However, it did not bother me since I was so tired. The next day, on returning to the room in the afternoon, I discovered that the conditioner was not working. I reported this at the front desk, and was quickly given another clean room with a quite conditioner. The room was quite from indoor and outdoor noise. It is 2 blocks from the Waikiki beach, and close to some good restaurants and other tourist stuff. Would strongly consider staying again on my next trip to Honolulu. If you want an inexpensive, safe place to store your stuff, and a clean, quite place to sleep, this Hotel is a good choice.

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 35 of 92It was an OK deal for me
Good price. Good location. Average service. Not everything in the room was clean but not surprisingly bad either for the price. Lower level rooms facing the ocean side are noisy due to busy traffice on the street.

Trip Type: Family Review 37 of 92Great price of ocean view very near the beach
Although this is an older hotel and does not offer the luxury of a much more expensive hotel, it is value for the rate that is charged. I was amazed that the ocean-view room we had requested actually had an ocean view rather than a view of a taller hotel which had the ocean view. Our room was located on the 17th floor and overlooked the street that lead to the beach, giving us a very good view of the beach and the ocean.

Trip Type: Business Review 38 of 92Great location, great price
This was the cheapest hotel in Honolulu but ended up being well worth the price. The place had been renovated and there were some amaneties that I didn't expect in such a budget hotel ... hair dryer, nice fridge, tv, ironing board and iron, free WI-FI in the entire hotel, etc. It is in an excellent part of Waikiki, just two short blocks up from the beach and lots and lots of great eating places and grocery stores within 3-5 min walk. I would recomment this hotel.

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 41 of 92Great location and value
The hotel is in one of the best locations. It is right behind the Hyatt Regency towers, so it's only about one block to the beach. Right near all the shops, restaurants and International Market. The price is very low and for a few buck more, you can get an ocean view. Don't be fooled by one of the larger hotels that is way off the beach and away from shopping. The front desk needs a little training regarding acknowledging guests when they walk by the desk, rather than lowering their heads and ignoring.

Trip Type: Business Review 44 of 92Outstanding Staff
I was on a tight budget which the Aqua Continental met... and the staff members were VERY cordial and helpful. I was surprised that some of the needed "fixables" had been painted over (literally), but I found the experience overall good because of the staff and the budget. I also had a kitchette in my room which would have been nice to know about in my planning... nice surprise theough! I didn't have the time to check out teh spa or the pool features, but next time I will. All was clean and welcoming.

Trip Type: Special Event Review 45 of 92You don't even get what you pay for
The walls and carpeting appear as thought they haven't been touched since 1975. Room had twin beds with the cheapest possible bedding. The wireless internet never worked so I had to borrow a wired router from the desk with a $100 deposit. The router only worked sporadically. Not many electrical outlets if you bring a laptop and other things you need to charge. There was a power strip in one corner but it was not convenient to anything. When I tried to move the power strip to a more convenient outlet I found that it was not plugged into an outlet at all. The plug had been cut off it and it was connected to some wires under my sink. However, the ground wire was not connected to anything at all, leaving anything you plug into this power strip ungrounded. (that's bad) I'm not sure if it's even legal to wire it like that which is why I took pictures of it and am sending them to the building inspector. I stayed there because it was cheap. I wish I had spent more and stayed elsewhere. Take my advice: it's worth the extra money to stay somewhere else.
