Trip Type: Family Review 1 of 17Great Central Location
The Confortel Almirante is a short walk from the city center, Placa de Catalunya. For tourists traveling via public transportation, this is ideal. You can catch a bus or hop on the Metro with ease, giving you access to the entire city. I felt quite safe walking the square and the neighborhood near the hotel very late at night. The hotel staff were very helpful and most spoke English (or quickly found another hotel employee who did to assist you). I greatly appreciated the free bottled water the hotel stocked in my room's refrigerator on a daily basis. After a long, hot day walking the city this was a most welcome surprise! This is a great hotel for travelers looking for a central location to base their stay in Barcelona.

Trip Type: Family Review 2 of 17Great Hotel and Close to Attractions
This hotel is really close to the Jaume I and the Uriquinaona Metro stations (about a 5min walk to each one). Buses can be used, but the Metro is very efficient. There were many restaurants within walking distance. It is within an easy walking distance of many attractions. The staff was mostly friendly, and most spoke English well; however, it is best if you speak basic Spanish or have a phrase book with you. The morning people seemed annoyed to have to speak English, but the night guy was very friendly and helpful (he even helped me with some of my Spanish). There are two computers in the lobby that can be used by guests for free. There is a restaurant, but it was expensive. Breakfast was included with our stay, but it was a typically European breakfast with meats, cheeses, juices, some cereal, bread, etc... It would cost about 16 Euro if we had to pay for it out of pocket - be sure to clarify before eating the breakfast. One thing is that you must slide your room key card into a slot next to the door to turn the lights on - uncommon for American hotels. We were on the 6th floor - thankfully there are two elevators for easy access. The room was air conditioned - thankfully so. The beds (two twins) were hard (but not uncomfortable), but I find that is common among the three different hotels I stayed in while traveling in Spain.

Trip Type: Romance Review 3 of 172 beds do not a king make
The only difficult part about the hotel were the two single beds pushed together to make a queen. Neither was large enough for 2 folks and the crack in the middle made for difficult sleeping. The bathroom far exceeded our expectation. The availability of 120V for charging electronics was unexpected. We were on the 7th floor with a full balcony and rising sun views that were spectacular. We arrived at 9AM and they checked us right into our rooms, how very accommodating and very much appreciated after our early cruise docking time.

Trip Type: Romance Review 7 of 17Friendly and Great Location
The staff was very friendly and helpful. The hotel was located in the perfect area. We loved the Gothic Quarter. All the shopping and sites were within walking distance. Would stay there again.

Trip Type: Romance Review 8 of 17Great location, short on creature comforts ...
We were very pleased with the perfect location of this hotel. We were able to make our way throughout the Gothic area with ease and was also amazed how close we still were to the wharf, good shopping, and a number of highly recommended sites to see. A few of the low-lights included a bathroom that seemed shabby and a shower with very soft water that did not work upon arrival (in the hotel's defense, we alerted them to the problem and they had it fixed by the time we got back to the room). The other major issue was the comfort level of the bed. The bed was extremely hard and left my wife and I with sore backs throughout our time in Barcelona. For the price point of this hotel, we hoped for a bit more in terms of size and comfort of the room. But based on the location alone and the helpfulness of the staff, we would recommend this hotel.

Trip Type: Romance Review 9 of 17Great location
The hotel is in a great location for walking Barcelona. The staff is very helpful. The Internet is free. The room was small and the "double bed" was two twin beds pushed together but the room was clean. Small bathroom. The area is safe.

Trip Type: Family Review 10 of 17Very modern European room (small but clean and cool!)
Very nice. Modern design, not for those who are accustomed to US rooms.

Trip Type: Family Review 11 of 17Good hotel in Barcelona
This hotel was convenient for my purposes, and although the rooms were quite small, they were clean, and the beds quite comfortable. The desk staff spoke good English, and most were pleasant and helpful. The only downside was the exhorbitant price of breakfast. Fortunately, there are a number of other options in the neighborhood.

Trip Type: Family Review 12 of 17THIS IS NOT A FOUR STAR HOTEL
They said they have air conditioning but it was turned off in the entire hotel for the season. This made the room hot and stuffy. When you opened the window you had the loud noise from the very wonderful street below (which is a convenient location). The television did not work, one of the two sinks stopper was stuck and we could not use it. They moved us to a room on a higher floor in the back which was a nicer room, however, still no air conditioning but at least we didn't have the street noise. However, at sunrise, the pigeons on the rooftops were so loud that they woke us each morning with the window open. Without the a/c you could also hear every sound on our floor including the elevator, the guests coming and going, the cleaning crew clanging glasses and doors slamming. I absolutely feel this is the loudest hotel I have ever stayed in and the hotel where I got the least amount of sleep. The room service is from a pizza place down the street and the lobby bar they mentioned is non-existent. The breakfast was 14 Euros for a very marginal buffet. Across the street was an egg breakfast for 4.90. I would never stay here again.
