Trip Type: Overnight Stay Review 1 of 16First apartment decor
The public rooms were satisfactory. Our room, booked through hotels.com was disappointing. The staff told us we had been upgraded (certainly a line he used for the previous guests as well). Our room had a glaring florescent overhead light and was definitely left over furniture. The hallway had disconnected air conditioners stored in plain view. Drinks were expensive ($13.00). Dining room was attractive enough and breakfast was pleasant.

The room was decorated in the Colonial style of the area. It was a joy to behold. The restaurant had excellent food for Dinner and Breakfast.

Trip Type: Business Review 3 of 16Good "touristing" home base
The Colonial Inn is well located for access to all tourist activities in the Concord area. 10 minutes to Walden Pond, many sights within walking distance and the front door faces a charming town square. However, I found it a challenge for my business needs. Room lighting was poor, the quaint-size room left little room for laptop/office work. Breakfast, served at 7:30, was too late for me to make it to my 8:00 destination. The charm of an old inn also means that it is NOT ADA compliant - no elevators, some narrow staircases. It was convenient to my conference, and the price was nice, but it resulted in trade-offs. So, great for a tourist stay, but I wasn't really a tourist.

A truly "colonial" experience, within walking distance of major historical sites. Very comfortable rooms (guest house suite), excellent dinner and outstanding service. We will return year after year.

Stay at this hotel once per year. Wireless had issues this time and restaurant was closed for renovation. Otherwise a nice place given its age.

Pictures of the Colonial Inn do not do it justice. When my wife and I pulled up to the hotel, we were both astonished at just how much charm and beauty this hotel held in person. The inside was just as charming as the outside. History and beauty lurked around every turn. The staff seemed to be at our beck and call, and they were extremely knowledgeable about both the history of the hotel and the history of the surrounding area. Our stay was one that we won't soon forget.

Trip Type: Special Event Review 8 of 16Unique historic experience
The fact that the Colonial Inn is beautifully maintained, beautifully decorated friendly, and has an outstanding restaurant isn't what makes it so special -- it's the fact that it's a genuine historic building that has been standing in the heart of a very historic town since long before the Revolutionary War. A lot of famous people have passed through there. Furthermore, it's an amazing value for the money. For history buffs, this is an experience not to miss. We've stayed there many times when visiting family in the Boston area, and plan to do so again.

Trip Type: Business Review 9 of 16Decor and heat from hell
My room and bathroom were small but since I was in the basement wing I thought that might have been the reason. So in the morning I asked to see other rooms on the upper floors and they were exactly the same. I'm not a big decor guy but it was awful - gaudy print drapes with mismatching print wallpaper, circular patterned ceiling plaster (you know what I mean). This is a very old building (1770, I think) that has been remodeled from time to time over the years but they seem to have stopped renovating in the 70s. In addition, the heat (I was there during a cold snap in November) was open full bore and I had no thermostat to control it - in fact, my stat was off all night - I was just getting ambient heat form all the other rooms in the building. The window A/C (another nice touch!) had been sealed with plastic so I couldn't use that. The front desk suggested I open the window (one very small window - remember, this a basement of a 1770s building) but there was no screen or grate and I was at street level and it just seemed a little creepy to do that. The bathroom decor was very dated and I had to run the hot water for 5 minutes (no exaggeration) to get it hot. It reminded me of the kind of apt I would have rented when I was a student in college and didn't have a lot a money. Thank goodness it was only for 1 night.

Trip Type: Overnight Stay Review 10 of 16a pre-Revolutionary gem
From the front desk check-in to the on-site restaurant to checking out, our stay was fabulous. Our room was in the oldest part of the hotel - built in 1716. We are history buffs, so the slanting floors, the whitewashed/exposed beam ceilings and out-of-true windows were wonderful, especially in light of all-modern conveniences like excellent climate control and lovely toiletries in the bathroom. The location is unbeatable - if you're of a mind, you can walk to just about every historic site Concord has to offer. As well, the on-site menus at the various restaurants were excellent with service that was outstanding. Not a place for the absolutely budget conscious or families with children perhaps, but the value for the money is exceptional and the ambience is great.

Trip Type: Business Review 12 of 16Quaint Inn, in a beautiful setting
Perfect location, in the heart of Concord, affording one easy access to many day walks, runs, etc. Also many quaint shops and stores around. The inn was quaint, and although it is an old inn, it has somewhat of a musky smell in the halls, sort of a stuffy feeling, as though light and air have been strangers there. However, I found the room to be very charming, with nice amenities and would recommend it, especially for the price.

Trip Type: Special Event Review 15 of 16Quirky Historical Hotel similar to a B&B.
This hotel is steeped in history. The dining room served delcious meals. Breakfast was included with our room and was an excellent value (Great food, big selection),if you don't want the coontinental breakfast hotel will comp the price against any menu item. We had rooms that were in the basement. The bath was nice, the room was clean, but there was only a tiny window so you felt like you were in the basement. Not the best that I think the hotel can offer. Room was clean but it was like a maze to get to your room. Hallways were dingy.
