Trip Type: With Friends Review 3 of 18Great Hotel, Great Location, Weirdness Surrounds!
This hotel has a weird artsy feel in each room. Interesting, but a little weird as well. The location is very close to the main plaka district area for walking, shopping, and eating. The service was very good at this hotel and the beds were very comfortable. Got a great night of sleep!

Trip Type: Romance Review 4 of 18Beautiful room. Seedy Location.
Our actual room was very cool. Super design-ey, etc. But the rest of the hotel left a lot to be desired. Champagne bar was closed all 4 days we were there. Restaurant was closed too. We had to go on a wild hunt to get someone to serve us a drink at the bar. In fact, the only action we saw at the hotel was a night they had it closed off for a private corporate party. Drinks, mini bar, room service prices are ridiculous. I travel a lot and am accustomed to expensive room service but 14 euro for a can of heineken? Location was central but in a bad neighborhood. Lots of beggars hanging about. The hotel recommended a tour that ended up being a total waste of money. Actual room was very nice though.

Trip Type: Romance Review 5 of 18Charming Boutique Hotel
Like the rest of Athens, the Classical Baby Grand Hotel exudes a certain quirkiness and funky character, even though it is a bit battered from use. The staff spoke fluent English and were very receptive and helpful. The entrance reminded me of a stage set for "A Midsummer Night's Dream". The silver floor and tiny European elevators were well worn from use, but made for a fun entrance at night. Our non-suite room was small but well appointed, clean, and had an excellent bed. One block north is Omonia Square, the geographic center of Athens. One block south is the City Hall and the vegetable and meat markets.

Trip Type: Overnight Stay Review 6 of 18Great Hotel, Dodgy location
The hotel's quality and cleanliness are fantastic. The rooms are very room, as well as the bathrooms. I stayed at another hotel in Athens after my 2-night stay at the Baby Grand, and believe me, Baby Grand was luxurious compared to the other. The only negative thing I have to say about the surrounding location. It is very centrally located, in Omonia Square, but centrality in urban areas often come hand-in-hand with criminal activity. I had a firsthand experience of being pickpocketed at the metro station as after I checked out. Be on high alert of anyone getting too close. The neighborhood is fine during the day, but very dark and poorly lit at night. That's the only reason I gave the hotel 4 stars instead of 5.

Trip Type: Family Review 10 of 18Location is questionable and probably dangerous
The hotel was good, albeit unusual and whimsical, and the staff were very accomodating. The beds are quite comfortable and the room clean. The subway was located one block from the metro station at Omonia Square. But it was one scary block. We observed drug use and drug trading, despite there being a noticeable police presence. The area behind the hotel is to be completely avoided. This was advice we were given and after a taxi ride through the area, it was good advice worth heeding.

We were sent an e-mail that check-in AND check-out was at 12 Noon....when we got there at 12 Noon we were first told that we would have to wait until 2 PM but then they changed our room and let us check in immediately.....After a 10 hour flight we were very grateful! The hotel was delightful.

The hotel really met our expectations. All of the pictures on the website came to life when we arrived. The staff was very nice and helpful. Only complaint was that it was a beautiful hotel in a bad neighborhood.

Trip Type: Business Review 15 of 18not a 5 star hotel - not even for Greece. Sorry.
This is marketed as a 5-star hotel. I've been to plenty of these. I would give it 3 stars for the follwoing reasons: - the room was full - and I mean a cloud - of flies. In March. I am not making this up. - The elevetor (that is a bit of a strech) does not fit more than 2 people, is dark (almost no light) and no room for more than a small rolling airline-OKed suitcase. The entry is 'decorated' by some wird cheap something looking like a paper cut-out made by a 3rd grader. the beds - I don't even start to go there. I am 6'2" - above the allotment of highed to this establishemnt. this is bad value for the money. Sorry.
