    I would recommend this place to anyone wanting to save some money in a pretty good neighborhood served by trains and trams (Chapel St. is quite a shopping district.) Besides the expected small, spartan room, the only drawback was that my room stayed hot all night, due to hot weather and no AC. The staff were extraordinarily kind and helpful.

Claremont Guesthouse is a tastefully restored 1886 Victorian guest house located in Melbourne's vibrant suburb of South Yarra, three kilometers from the F1 Grand Prix Circuit and downtown Melbourne. The Melbourne International Airport is 25 kilometers from the hotel. Labeled as the fashion strip of Australia, the well-known Chapel Street is located only one kilometer away. From clothing and music to cafes, bars and restaurants, Chapel Street is a vibrant and exciting place for shopping, dining and sightseeing. Trams and trains are only 100 meters from the front door, whisking guests to the St. Kilda Esplanade Arts and Crafts Market, where over 200 stalls of quality art and craft items are sold every Sunday.
