Trip Type: Special Event Review 1 of 72DO IT YOURSELF.
Anything that you want done must be asked for or you have to do it yourself. Want towels? Go down 4 floors to get them. Want your bed made or new sheets? Go down 4 floors and tell them, or do it yourself. Remember that the shower/bathroom is shared with other guests as well as your room so you have to wait in line if you need to use the bathroom. There are plenty of places to eat near by on Broadway and the redline subway is only a block away.

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 2 of 72good for the price
The room served its purpose. It was much better than I expected and we really just slept and showered there. The receptionist was friendly.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 5 of 72Didn't get what we booked
We booked a room for four but got two rooms and had too split up. It was fine for two days but i wouldn't want to stay any longer.

I stayed at both single rooms and dorm rooms at this place. The dorm rooms either smell like cigaretes or greasy food. When I stayed at the single room for a couple nights, a very rude staff member tried to kick me out as if I were an intruder even though a very kind staff member told me I could stay in that room for two nights. The only good thing about this place is cheap rate. Don't expect anything else.

Trip Type: Family Review 7 of 72Avoid if you can
'Hotel rooms' are dirty and noisy, military style room, you can feel the springs of the mattress of the twin bunk beds. I am sure they never wash the carpet, the sheets had holes and were suspicious (hairs on the pillow). The Bathroom in the corridor was not cleaned in two days, the trash was not emptied. The friendliness of the guy at the front desk made you want to run away, it's a really expensive place for the service you get. We stayed there 2 nights (satruday and sunday nights).

Trip Type: Rest and Recreation Review 8 of 72Reasonable Price, but money isn't everything
Sink was clogged, but fixed by hotel right away after I asked. Bed had springs that were almost coming out. This should have been checked regularly and replaced as soon as the problem is known. Very quit neighborhood and very close to subway and many restaurants.

Trip Type: Romance Review 9 of 72Needs Improvement
Power goes off for half an hour or so almost every night for 3 nights that we stayed around midnight. Not sure whether they do maintenance or their power supply is just not good. Rest room not clean. Maybe it's cleaned just once each day. It should be more than that since they are shared and it tends to get dirty very fast. Bedding doesnt look clean, really worn out and white pillow covers and sheets are turning yellowish.

This was my first hostil experience. I will never stay in a hostil again but it was probably worth the money in NYC.

Trip Type: Family Review 11 of 72Should Be Condemned
This was like stepping into something only a slum lord could be proud of! We had to book a room at another hotel as this one was a death trap if a fire had occurred, not to mention the fact that the building was under construction and the rooms were very dirty and the beds looked like something picked up off of the side of the road!

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 12 of 72Okay room for just sleeping
Staff didn't respond to my pre-stay request for parking garage locations. Paper supplies not well-stocked in the shared bathrooms. Not very clean, but looks like they are working on repainting and upgrading.

Trip Type: Business Review 14 of 72Affordable & Nice location
The hotel staff were polite and friendly, but the building was old and seemed poorly maintained. I found my bed to be somewhat lumpy and wondered how often bathrooms and hallways were cleaned. Overall, however, I was outside enjoying New York and attending a conference, so the hotel served its purpose: i.e., giving me a safe place to sleep at night. But don't expect great comfort. The room was bare: no desk, no chair, only a bed, bedside lamps, and a TV that didn't work. Nevertheless, I'd stay at this place again if I couldn't find a cheaper place. It is close to the subway (line 1, 103rd st) and only a short walk to Central Park.
