Trip Type: Not Provided Review 17 of 116Not bad but not necessarily clean
My room clearly had not been cleaned when i first arrived. That kind of grossed me out at first. Also, the furniture and fixtures were in bad shape. The room was very small but I expected that and it didn't bother me much as I did not spend much time there. I guess it is a good place if you are on a budget but if you are into cleanliness you might want to spend some more money instead. The location is also very convenient to the transport system and the city center which I appreciated as that is where I spent my time in Chicago.

Trip Type: Special Event Review 18 of 116cheap hote, but don't expect too much
this hotel was reasonably cheap and convenient located close to the subway (red line), but i was not excited about the cleanliness and the neighborhood (lot's of police arresting someone when i returned to the hotel in the late evening)

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 19 of 116great for the budget traveller
This was a good hotel for the price. My four day stay was around $400 including parking which was about half the price of the downtown hotels. Great location in charming Chinatown about a mile and a half from downtown. You don't need a car; the red line CTA station is a block from the hotel. Great authentic Chinese restaurants and shops in a totally safe area with lots of families walking around. The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was tiny but clean. The accomodations were spartan but you're not paying for luxury. My only problem was my cell phone signal was very weak. I had trouble using it from my room. My laptop worked fine with their wireless internet. Overall worth the money.

Trip Type: Business Review 20 of 116China town hotel in chicago. BAD!
terrible, smells very nasty (old and stale); i don't even know if it is a health hazard to stay in this hotel. Also i does not have an elevator. so if you have heavy luggage, you are screwed. not worth at all. all in all, a very terrible and overpriced hotel. i would not stay here even if you pay me in the future.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 21 of 116Great for young people who want to be close to downtown
This hotel was absolutely fine. It met all basic requirements for people who don't want to spend a lot but want to be close to downtown. Although the staff was difficult to understand, they were extremely helpful. When we asked about parking, the man at the front desk told us we could take his spot on the street (free parking right in front of the door) when he ended his shift in 20 minutes. If you are looking for luxury, this is not the place to go. If you don't plan on spending too much time in the hotel and want a convenient location, I recommend this place.

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 23 of 116Perfect location
This hotel is really for the single traveler as the rooms are small and there are no elevators. However, overall the hotel is clean, has a comfortable double bed, your own bathroom and a microwave and refrigerator in their lunchroom to store and heat take home food. Front desk staff is o.k. depending on who you are dealing with. The best thing about this hotel is it's outstanding location, only 2 blocks from the CTA red line; 2 stops from Chicago's city center, one stop from Soldier Field and 1 stop from the Chicago White Sox's ball park.

Trip Type: Overnight Stay Review 24 of 116Value for Money
I was pleasantly surprised with the facilities in this hotel. The Standard room I have booked for was ready before the 3pm check-in time. It was a compact room but as I only needed the room to get a good night's sleep, it didn't really matter at all. I was initially skeptical about the condition of the toilet but it turned out to be squeaky clean. You can get free coffee, hot and cold drinking water, the use of a microwave oven and internet access in the clean, brightly-lit 'kitchen'. Location wise-it's just less than 5 mins walk to the Cermak-Chinatown(Red Line) stop and from there it's a short ride to downtown Chicago. The ladies at the front desk were helpful in setting my orientations right and recommending places to see during my overnight stay in Chicago. I find Jenny friendly most probably because I was able to converse with her in Mandarin.

Trip Type: Business Review 25 of 116Needs Improvement
Seemed Dirty and out dated but for the money it was ok. i only needed a place to sleep 1 nite and it was close to were i was headed. I did like the fact the red line was a 2 min walk and the culture was interesting to stay in the neighborhood. As far as the TV goes, there were 2 or 3 channels in english and the rest were asian.

Trip Type: Overnight Stay Review 26 of 116Excellent Room in Downtown Chicago
This hotel was an incredible deal! It was by far the cheapest hotel we could find IN Chicago. I absolutely loved this hotel because it gave us an opportunity to stay 1 minute from the El and navigate through the city. We parked the car within steps of the hotel (we got lucky in finding a free parking spot but there is an incredibly cheap and safe parking lot 1 block away) and walked all over the city. The hotel was cheap and perfectly located. In no way are these complaints but just an idea of what the hotel was like. Despite my love for the staff, location, and overall experience, this is definitely a no frills hotel. If you are looking for plush bedding, a spotless room, and amenities galore, skip over this hotel. This place is solely a nice, relatively clean room in the heart of Chinatown that is affordable and gives ppl who otherwise can't afford to stay IN the city, a place to rest and enjoy Chicago. Our room was tiny (which I didn't mind) and we had to rent 2 rooms for our group of 4 (we had been staying in 1 room every other location we had gone). Everything was clean enough. In no way did I feel that everything was perfectly sanitized and there was a SLIGHT mildewey feel to the place but I could easily overlook this minor details because the price and location were right. In no way was this a dirty hotel - it is very well maintained with incredibly friendly staff. I had no problem understanding the owners, they were nothing but helpful. I loved staying in Chinatown and getting to explore the surrounding markets. The neighborhood is incredibly safe, clean, and bursting with culture. We went out that night and stayed out until 3 in the morning and while they lock the door and you must ring the doorbell to get in, it wasn't a problem and somebody was at the front desk ready. This is a GREAT location - if I ever come to Chicago again I am absolutely staying here. This place is excellent!!!

Trip Type: With Friends Review 29 of 116Good room for the money and access to downtown Chicago
The out of service elevators (under repair) was the biggest problem for the hotel. In addition, each room had air conditioning, but the units were mounted on walls above the bed and circulation pointed directly at the beds. However, the staff couldn't have been friendlier or more helpful in trying to accomodate us.

Trip Type: Business Review 30 of 116Good value for the money
The hotel was well-located and the least expensive option in that area. The hotel is smack in Chinatown... lots of Chinese food options in the neighborhood. I was somewhat skeptical about the hotel from the looks of the neighborhood... but the hotel turned out to be quite clean and comfortable. A subway station less than 5 minutes walk from the hotel, and is just one subway stop away from downtown Chicago. Also, less than a mile from McCormick Place Convention Center -- was possible to easily walk there.
