Chancellor Hotel on Union Square

Nice hotel in great location

The hotel is at Union Sqare, close to shopping and transportation. If you drive, book the room 'with parking' and you will get valet parking with in and out privileges at a nearby parking structure for a modest fee. The service was excellent and the room clean and high quality but very small.

Great Location, Great Value

Located half a block from Union Square and right on the Cable Car line, this hotel was perfect to see San Francisco. There are plenty of restaurants within walking distance of the hotel and parking is available through a parking deck about 1 block away from the hotel and requires only 2 turns from the deck to get to the Golden Gate bridge to head to Sonoma and wine country.

Good location and attentive staff

I stayed at the hotel for almost a week. The staff, room, and hotel met very acceptable standards. I did have one matter during my stay that needed attention and I must say that the response to my request was immediate and exceptional, which gave me the impression that the hotel is very seriously and attentively run by competent staff who do care about the quality of service they deliver. I was very pleased with my stay and very pleased to discover how efficient and professional the staff was.

Great Hotel!!!

The rooms were very clean and comfortable. I also appreciated that the shampoo and lotion were organic and that there was a recycle basket in the room. The staff were very helpful. We would definitely stay there again. Great price for a great hotel!

Very Nice Smaller Hotel

The Chancellor Hotel is charming with very friendly staff for the most part. Excellent pricing which includes parking just around the corner. Room service is pricey. Disappointed that the front desk personnel had no knowledge of local theaters. Also, the gift shop attendant was less than helpful when requesting a newspaper.

Great location and value

Chancellor is a wonderful small hotel conveniently located in the heart of San Francisco-Union Square. If you drive to San Francisco, be sure to take advantage of the parking option which allows "in and out" privileges. Service is excellent although room was slow/late to be "made-up" the next day. After contacting front desk this was quickly remedied. Disappointed that we could not eat breakfast in restaurant during on our first day. It was reserved for a convention/conference group staying at hotel. However, the full menu was available in bar area and our breatfasts tasted great. We fully enjoyed the dining room on the following day of our 2-day stay. Typical of older hotels, rooms are a bit smaller than new hotels. However, the room was immaculate. And, we do not spend much time in our room anyway. This hotel is an outstanding choice - close to everything including the cable car stop.

was great! the hotel help where friendly and very helpfull. room was a bit stuffy but cute and walking distance to alot if you like to walk.

It's a Gem

Our stay at this hotel was great. The front desk staff was very nice, had an easy checkin/checkout. The room was very clean, great bed and pillows. We had a room looking onto Powell St. and was able to open the window and get out to the fire escape and watch the people. Great location, there is a little sushi place up Powell, which was reasonable and nice atmosphere. Found a great Irish Pub off Bush, between Powell and Grant. Great place. We will stay at the Chancellor Hotel again, it was a great trip.

Have returned three times

The location is great. Rooms are small but very comfortable and updated. If you want quiet ask for it, otherwise you'll be dreaming about cable cars.

Great great great hotel!

We loved staying in the Chancellor Hotel. Perfectly located in Union Square, the cable car stops right on the corner. There's a great restaurant right inside. Our room was beautiful apple green and clean with a soft pillow top mattress and soft sheets. The people made the difference though, the nice bell "boy" who greeted us, to the check-in person and then the restaurant waiters, everyone was nice here. They even had self serve coffee and cookies. I really suggest this hotel. Great!

Excellent hotel, staff, everything great!

We loved this hotel. From the bellstaff to the waiters in the restaurant - everyone was friendly. Beautiful clean room, apple green and white with dark wood, soft firm bed, extra pillows, fan above bed, enlarging mirror in bathroom, even an umbrella in the closet! It's very centrally located right in Union Square. It was so convenient to hop on the cable car right out side at the corner. We went to a play and came back without getting our car out of the garage! It was great! Definitely we will stay here again!
