The Chateau de Mazan is a good place to saty at when visiting the Provence. The chateau used to be owned by the family de Sade -indeed the best known for the writer Marquis de Sade. Although the chateau was actually owned by his uncle, the famous Marquis did spend some of his time there, writing his literature. The ambiance is interesting, rooms are nice, and the hotel has a swimming pool and apparently an excellent restaurant, but I can not vouch for the restaurant, because it is closed on Mondays, the day I was staying at the hotel. All and all, an interesting place

This elegant chateau is beautifully appointed. Dining here was a very luxurious experience. The town is extremely small without many conveniences, but is close to many others. The area was scenic. We had a wonderful time here. The staff was most helpful.

The Chateau de Mazan is an eighteenth century chateau and the former residence of the Marquis de Sade. It is located in the Provencal village of Mazan, eight kilometers away from Carpentras and its famous market. The 25 guestrooms are decorated in creamy colors and have dark a ntique furniture. All include minibars, hair dryers, air conditioning and satellite television.

The hotel has a landscaped garden with traditional Provencal planting, including a one hundred year-old olive tree. The outdoor swimming pool is set in this garden; guests can enjoy a drink by the poolside or under the shade of the mulberry trees in the rotunda. Other amenities includes tour assistance, secure parking, room service, and Internet access (complimentary). Fine French cuisine is served in the hotel's restaurant, L'Ingenue. The dining room is elegant, with its period moldings, fireplaces and antique furniture. Cooking is seasonal and dishes can include Scallops with Coconut Milk and Black Truffles, and Roast Partridge with Fresh Pasta and Bilberries. Guests can also eat on the terrace outside. Drinks and cocktails are served in the 1920s Bar. Marseille Provence Airport is about 100 kilometers away.
