Great Location

I stayed here with my wife and kids. We enjoyed being close to the park and the UWS neighborhood is vibrant and full of great retail, food, and amenities. I would recommend this option to friends and would definitely look to stay here again.

Great hotel!

Great hotel and great location! It's right next to a metro station and a supermarked! The only thing that needs to improve is the bed in the living room, so if you stay more than two people in 'The Central Park House' bring a air mattress if you want a good night sleep.

Please bring your own...

The only good thing I can say about this hotel is it's location and it's space inside was great. Now for the bad, first of all there was no sighting or contact with anyone who worked there besides pushing a button at the front door and waiting for someone to respond. The intercom had some static too, so they had to repeat themselves. As for the inside of the apartment, I loved the fact that it was like an apartment not a hotel room. Everything looked beautiful overall. When I entered the beautiful bathroom there were wet dirty towels left on the floor next to the bathtub, I assume from the last guest. I inspected the rest of the apt and found hairs on beds and pillows (some looked like it was was from the pubic area, the garbage in the kitchen was never taken out and the rug was not even vacuumed. Apparently, no one cleaned up the bathroom or anywhere else when the last people left. Which by the way I know their names, address, phone # how long they stayed there, what their complaints were and other personal stuff because the form they filled out before they checked out was left on the kitchen table and no one removed it because no one cleaned the room. So I have to walk back down the stairs from the 3rd floor to go talk to the intercom to let them know. I went out for dinner (beautiful neighborhood btw)and when I returned I see that only the bathroom was cleaned and towels removed. Later on that night I went to the closet to get clean towels to take a bath and what do I see...the wet dirty towels from the bathroom floor folded neated and place on the closet shelf. There was only one clean towel, not sure if it was clean at this point, to use for 1 adult and 3 kids. At this point I did not want to stay there any longer especailly being with kids, but had to make the best of it since I had no where else to go that night and we were all very tired. I went out again and bought Clorax wipes, soap, towels, disinfectants and spent more money than I intend too. So t

Central Park House

The Apartment/Hotel was perfect. The location was incredible. The room was clean and prepared for my arrival. The walls are paper thin, but I'm a heavy sleeper, so it didn't matter much. The biggest challenge I had was getting into the building. I had to wait close to 2 hours. The intercom system wasn't working, so they couldn't buzz me into the building. If it wasn't for another person staying at the property, I would have never gotten in. Get the emergency phone numbe BEFORE you arrive. When I did receive that number, I got a gentleman who was obviously sleeping and didn't hear the intercom ring. This was the only thing that frustrated me.

loved this hotel except for the mattresses

Everything is fabulous about this hotel except the mattresses are hard as a rock. No problems with parties in the rest of the hotel. Very clean, spacious one bedroom apartment. Brightly decorated, nice finished floors. No front desk, which was fine with us. Walk one block to catch cabs. Great place for an extended stay - verything you need is there, including fridge, dishwasher, micro, dishes, and DVD player. You can easily sleep 5 in the king suite because of the sofa bed and another pullout that is a single. Very safe neighborhood not too far from a police station. We walked about at 2 am and felt very safe. No elevator so we requested a lower floor and it was fine. Handicap access would be a problem. Super value for the money!

A wonderful spot!

We booked this apartment at the last minute... and it was a wonderful spot. Just a block or two from Central Park and very near the Museum of Natural History. It looked just like the pictures too! the shower water runs onto the floor and we had to use our towels to clean that up, but I left a note and they gave us more towels and a rug too. We loved it there! It would have been nice to have a map of the area or some menus in the room, since we were new to this area. Watch the parking out front, we were lucky enough to get a spot right in front, but we got a ticket for being less that 15 feet from the fire hydrant. he yellow line on the curb was worn off. We were able to park on the other side of the street for the rest of our stay. We would definately stay here again!

great apartment in ny

this is an apartment, not a hotel i loved it it was clean and had lots of space the employees were receptive and they even extended my stay by several hours when they needed to work out some plumbing issues you must clean up after yourself once you're in the kitchen is fully stocked but if something like papertowels is missing you can always just pick some up and leave it for fellow travelers i loved the kitchen i purchased organic food at a ny coop And takeout as well loved it!

Cool apartment for short-term rent

Ridiculously convenient location, safe and quiet neighborhood, near tons of restaurants, blocks from the subway and Museum of Nat'l history and Central Park. The decor is trendy and tasteful. The sofa bed was too uncomfortable to use, but we put the mattress on the ground and it was fine. We have 2 kids and found that the walls don't block out much sound between the rooms...but at least there was a wall between the rooms (which you don't get in a hotel room). Overall, this apartment was a great value.

Not what I expected.

Well for starters this was not a hotel. It was an apt. We did not know this and had difficulty just finding the address. There was just a trickle of water coming from the shower (and ultimately no water after one person tried to shower) and for four people after a day of traveling this was very stressful. They only provided 3 towels when they knew that four people were booked. We found that the second "bed" was actually a pull out couch from the ?1970's that we couldn't fully pull out and had to sleep on a slant. The sheets were full of holes and the one and only blanket was old and dirty looking. We immediately called for service and of the three numbers we had no one answered, only voice mail and no one ever returned our calls. We left first thing in the morning to a nearby "hotel" and had a wonderful time in NY. Only regret was wasting our time with the Central Park House.

For the price, the room was not worth it. On the website the room seemed bigger, then what it was. The bathroom had hair in the shower, and there were no Cable Channels. I don't I would use this hotel again.

Nice place

We needed a room with a small kitchen. It was stocked with plates, utensils... the microwave didn't work. Otherwise it was a nice stay, great location and wonderful local restaurants. The only bad event was a loud and vicious fight the couple had in the room above us. After an hour of items thrown and screams, it cooled down but then they stayed up all night. We complained the next day to the attendant one gets when you push the button at the outside entrance and they were very responsive. The next night was very quite.

Needs Improvement

I was a bit sceptical based on the reviews, but decided to give it a shot with my 5 year old son based on location (right next to Central Park and the Museum of Natural History) and price. Great location and fair price, especially for the size of the room. And there were no parties there like some of the other reviews stated, at least not when we were there. However, you buzz to check in and they give you a code to your room (all doors have a key pad) and they buzz you in the front door outside. Nobody every mentioned that there should be a key in the room to the outside door until my second night when we again buzzed to get in and the guy asked where our key was. No note in the room, nothing to indicate this and nobody every brought one to us as they were supposed to do. So we (me and my 5 year old son) spent each night, Fri and Sat, sitting on the sidewalk for about 10 minutes waiting for the on-call rep to answer the phone and then buzz us in at 10:30 at night. A bit frustrating.

Great room for the money

I was very happy with my stay at Central Park House! It was clean and comfortable. You only get one key so make sure to ask for two if you have a large party. The only thing I would improve was the shower, though it was beautiful it wasn't that functional as water got everywhere since the door doesn't go all the way to the end.
