Doesn't live up to hype

The castle is beautiful from the outside and and in the original castle inside. Unless you have booked the really expensive rooms you will be staying in a newer addition and will not even know you are "on the Hudson." Check in is not until 4 pm. I had a splitting headache so we did not stop and do the sight seeing on our way there - therefore arriving early. We called around 2:30 to see if we could check in early - "Not until 3:30" so we sat in the driveway waiting for an hour with my head pounding. The carpet was damp as if it had been shampooed and not dried yet. Some of the staff were snooty and the public parts of the hotel (dining room, etc.) were over air conditioned and freezing. It just wasn't worth even the better hotels.com rates.
