Trip Type: Family Review 1 of 5Convenient and Lovely
Perfect location, the hotel just south of the Hilton, on the beach in Tel Aviv. Right at the Marina, and a 10 minute walk to the Namal, or port area, with wonderful restaurants. The beach is right outside the hotel doors and in summer 2009, they are doing renovations and will have a large pool and private beach. When that happens, you can expect the price to go up, but for now, it's a good deal for the hotel with reasonable prices, though we did not eat at the hotel. The staff was freindly and helpful, and I would defintely stay here again.

Trip Type: Special Event Review 3 of 5Good hotel for the money
The Calton is a decent hotel, on the beach next to a small marina. It's a little isolated from restaurants and shopping, but Tel Aviv is not that big and it's fairly easy to get around. Breakfast is currently about $20 per person if you don't get a deal with breakfast included. Weigh this into the price differential when you make reservations. Try to get a room facing the beach -- the view toward the city is, well, a view of a city. Better to be watching the sunset over the med. sea. Did not experience any of the lack of friendliness that others have suggested in hotel reviews. In fact, the staff was always smiling and willing to help. They accommodated an early arrival (4:30 a.m.) without a hitch, and included a room upgrade. Breakfast was good, not great, and had a WIDE variety of offerings, including a make-it-yourself omelet. Just pick things out, and they cook it. Not a bad place to stay.
