Good, despite paying for breakfast!

Rooms were very clean, nice hard wood floors, clean, but very small bathroom (of course I was in a studio). The hotel definitely is geared more towards German and French tourists, but the staff were very helpful, despite knowing little English. It was a bit disappointing not having breakfast included in the price. Also 9:30 is a bit too early to stop serving breakfast, 10 or 10:30 would be more reasonable. Location is good, very close to the Cathedral and Petit France neighborhood. It is also pretty close to the train station.

Not as good as rated

I'm listing all the issues below: - Too far from town center and in not so nice looking neighborhood. - Room was too plain. Floor was sticky. Hallway was dimly lit. - This is NOT a full service hotel. No room service whatsoever. There was just a front office and that was it. - Laundry area is in an obscured and remote place, not to mention hard to find. - Noise and smelly from street side.

Basic essentials, good price

Nothing fancy. Efficient little room. Very quiet, but no privacy if we wanted the window to the courtyard open in the heat. Breakfast wasn't great, but was enough to get us to lunch. Very near transportation and sites. Fridge and kitchen were VERY nice to have. Laundry was hard to find, and more towels would have been nice. A good value for anyone who doesn't need lots of typical hotel amenities - just a place to sleep. Excellent value for the price.

Management issues?

The hotel is decent for the money, but not too well-organized. My room hadn't been cleaned at all (towels on the floor, kitchenette full of crumbs and dirty dishes), and the staff couldn't seem to figure out why. I eventually got a different, cleaner room. The front desk is often absent and I witnessed another customer complaining that the light in his room had been burnt out for three weeks, while his weekly complaints didn't get it fixed. On the plus side, the rates drop quite a bit for longer stays and the location is convenient.
