beware the fragrances...

Overall the room was clean although there was some peeling paint in the bathroom shower. The fragrances from the cleaning products and some hidden room deodorizer were overpowering and also caused an allergic reaction. you need eye shades because there are no drapes to keep out the abundant ambient light from the parking lot. Glad we only stayed one night.

Good room for the money

Spend 2 days at this hotel which were very comfortable. There is a train near by, but it was not disturbing. A great value for a short stay with NYC close by.

Great hotel for the price

Can't beat paying under a hundred bucks and having a suite hotel room. Second time I've stayed here and will again the next time I'm in town.

great location, needs work

The location is excellent, close to shopping malls and restaurants. The bed comforter was wrinkled and sloppy. The shower had mold on the walls and the paint was pealing off.

Almost like home away from home

Our over all stay was very good. There is shopping and restaurants nearby. With the efficiency you get more than a hotel room for a great price. Our only negative comment we have is that the bathroom plaster needs repair around the shower.

Front desk guy not so friendly

overall the room was pretty nice it was fully equipment with fridge, stove, pull out couch and was comfortable. The guy at the front desk was not helpful at all. He did not direct us to our room and basically ignored us apon arival. The next morning he did not even say good morning he just nodded his head.

Good Hotel at a Good Price!

I stayed at the Candlewood, because I was attending a wedding in the area. Luckily, the Candlewood was almost half the price of the wedding party hotel. And it was FINE. The 2 biggest drawbacks are: 1- Traffic and 2- Trains. The traffic during the day on the weekends is ridiculous! Add 5-10 minutes to any destination (or Google Map estimation). On Saturday it took 10 minutes to get from the parking lot to the highway. When there is no traffic, it took about 2. There are railroad tracks near by, but I think all weekend I only noticed a train go by 2 or 3 times. However, I am from the city, so trains are a part of life. The room was clean. The workout room was only OK. The cardio machines worked, but the weightlifting equipment did not. For the price this is a fine hotel. I would stay here again.

Excatly what I expected

It's a suites hotel in Suburban New York. You get exactly what you expect. A Clean room in a decent neighborhood for a reasonable rate. Note that they only have weekly housekeeping, not an issue for me only staying two night. Very convenient to Northern Bergen County Jersey as well.
