Description
See more detailsLocation. Three blocks from the Atlantic Ocean in a residential area of North Wildwood, N.J., the Candlelight Inn is located ten miles northeast of Cape May. Restaurants, shops and tennis courts are all just a few blocks walk. North Wildwood's three miles of boardwalk, which features roller coasters and water rides, is also walking distance from the inn.
Hotel Features. The Candlelight Inn, built at the turn of the century by New Jersey senator Leaming Rice, is a Queen Anne, Victorian-style estate. Authentic antique furnishings and styling of the house includes an 1855 sofa, Eastlake piano, built-in oak breakfront, chestnut pocket doors, a 19th-century dining room suite and many collectibles. Breakfast is an occasion at the inn, and includes dishes such as waffles, pancakes, French toast, egg dishes and fresh-baked breads served in the main dining room. A spacious porch and wraparound veranda with wicker furniture and a porch swing are popular places to recline and relax. The outdoor sundeck has patio furniture and a hot tub.
Guestrooms. Individually decorated with brass or antique wood beds, each guestroom at the Candlelight Inn is furnished with oak, walnut, pine and mahogany period pieces. Oriental rugs, old prints and lace provide romantic Victorian accents. All guestrooms have private bathrooms, and several have a double whirlpool tub. Most rooms have ceiling fans, and all are air-conditioned. The innkeepers welcome guests with sherry and chocolates provided in the guestrooms.
Expert Tip. Guests wanting to sun, surf, swim, and tan on the beaches of North Wildwood can leave their pocketbooks at home - beach access here is free.
