Trip Type: Business Review 1 of 7Great Location for Expo Center!
I recently was in Guadalajara for an event at the Expo center. The location of the Camino Real is ideal- directly across the street from the Expo Center. The hotel is relatively new, and the upkeep has been very nice. The rooms were moderately spacious. They were clean, though the carpet was running a bit ragged in my room. The bed was very comfortable. The pillows were plush and firm, the way you would expect. The sheets were soft, and the bed was well made. (A pet peeve of mine at hotels is when the sheets come of the bed before you even lay down on them!) My only complaint about the room was the lack of lamps on the night-stands. I like to read in bed, and it was impossible to read at all in this room due to the poor lighting, let alone when I was in bed. The bathroom was the best part of the room. Very nice design, an art deco sink, walk in spacious shower (no tub). The water pressure at the sink was a little low. Don't know why that is so. Maybe the hotels filtration system. Was a little hard to shave, but not too hard. The only meal I had at the hotel was one breakfast. Since I was on the executive floor, I had access to the continental breakfast buffet there. It was just a tad disappointing. They featured several types of Kelloggs cereals, mostly sweet ones. They had some limited fresh fruit, some cold cuts and cheese, and some pastries. However there was no bread. However when I asked if they had bread, they rang downstairs to the kitchen and brought me up three slices of toast and butter. Overall the service was excellent. The rooms are nice enough. The location is ideal for attending events at the Expo Guadalajara. And the prices are very reasonable.

The hotel has the best hotel gym I have ever used. The room was very clean and the beds were extremely comfortable. The flat screen television was a nice touch. The hotel is tastefully modern. Food at the hotel restaurant was good as well. Definately recommend this hotel.

Trip Type: Business Review 7 of 7Best Service I've Ever Had!
My partner and I stayed at the Camino Real Expo for 4 days January 2008, while recovering from some elective surgery. The moment we arrived we were whisked to the 9th floor private Club Level check in, shown to our suite overlooking the city. For some reason even though the hotel was just opened 8 months ago, the TV wasn't working. They offered to move us to the Presidential Suite but it's on the sunny / street side of the building and our suite was dead quiet, so we just asked if they could bring us another TV. The maintenance guys disappeared for about 2 hours while I rested, then returned with a BRAND NEW 52" PLASMA flat screen TV! I guess they went out and bought it just for us. That's the type of service we enjoyed. If we requested ice it was delivered within 5 minutes, room service was timely and piping hot. I'd rate this as a 4.5 star hotel with 5 star service. The room was very quiet - the only thing was the doors which are all made from solid mahogany are loud when they close and need some weather striping to soften the sound. That's my only gripe. This is without a doubt currently the best hotel in Guadalajara. If you book be sure you are getting the new EXPO hotel - there is another older Camino Real. This one is across the street from the expo center about a block from the Hilton and about a 3/4 mile walk to a large mall shopping complex. Also spend the extra to stay on the Club Level it includes a private lounge with breakfast and an open bar happy hour with free hor'dourvers and an incredible view of the city. Behind the hotel is one of the nicest residential areas in Mexico with homes that would fit nicely in Beverly Hills. Very safe and pleasant to walk through. I'm not a shill, just an extremely pleased customer. Oh and order the brownie and ice cream from the room service menu just before bed and I promise you will think you died and went to heaven.
