Description
See more detailsLocation. The Calistoga Wine Way Inn, located in Calistoga, Calif., is four blocks from the city's historic downtown, home to shops, restaurants, mud baths and spas. The Napa, Sonoma and Russian River wineries are available within 25 miles, with the closest wineries accessible less than one mile from the inn. The property is two miles from Old Faithful and five miles from the Petrified Forest National Park.
Features. The Calistoga Wine Way Inn was converted from its original status as a Craftsman-style family home to a bed and breakfast in 1978. Reputedly built for Leland Stanford, founder of Stanford University, the inn was constructed with American white pine timbers shipped from South Carolina. Complimentary, full breakfasts, featuring the inn's signature bread and butter pudding, are served each morning. A variety of local wines, simple appetizers and cheeses are served in the evenings. The dining room and parlor are furnished with original oak wainscoting, lead glass cabinets and a fireplace. A multi-level redwood deck is located at the rear of the main house. The deck and garden areas provide views of the Palisades. Pets are not allowed at this property.
Guestrooms. Guestrooms at the Calistoga Wine Way Inn feature English and American antiques, with some boasting four-poster beds. Furnishings complement the original turn-of-the-century beadboard walls. All accommodations include amenities baskets. Private bathrooms are equipped with showers and/or soaking tubs, and feature updated fittings.
Expert Tip. Guestrooms feature a "secret drawer" in nightstands where guests have left notes with memories from staying at the inn over the years.
