Trip Type: Business Review 1 of 19About what i expected
From the previous reviews people had said you get what you pay for. Which is about right... Its just a room with a bed. The beds are very hard... which i didnt mind cuz i like a hard bed... but it was harder then a youd expect at a hotel. The building is a little old. The room itself seemed clean enough, as well as the bathroom. but the shower/tub was pretty gross.... which made me think the rest of the place was dirty and i just couldnt see it.

Trip Type: Special Event Review 4 of 19Fantastic hotel especially for the price!
Convieniently located to parking, mass transit, Fenway, BU, Backbay, restaurants, fast food, Dunkin Donuts, 711, etc. Staff was knowledgable, eager to help, curteous, polite, helpful, etc. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. The bathroom was a bit small but adequate and clean. The only negative I can come up with is the size and age of the televisions.

Trip Type: Special Event Review 6 of 19Worst bed I have ever slept in.
The hotel was fine in every way except the reason you need a hotel, a comfortable place to sleep away from home. The beds in this hotel were terrible! It was like sleeping on a plank with a sheet on it.

Trip Type: Family Review 7 of 19Close to Fenway Park / Rooms not to brag about
the location of the hotel was excellent especially if you ever go see a Red Sox game at fenway park or go to Cask and Flagon (ESPN Rated 2nd Biggest Sports Bar). Fenway park is literaly a 2 block walk from the hotel. the down side to this is the parking situation. for 3 days to park it cost 54 dollars. the parking area is dingy and smells like urine. the parkingspaces are very narrow and they try to cram as many cars in there as possible. the hotel room price was right for the location of fenway park, but the accomidations were terrible. the Bed was harder than sleeping on a rock, the room had a musty smell to it. the bathroom toilet was crooked and ran every once in a while, the maid service would be at your door at 8:30 am asking to clean your room when you were not even up, the air conditioning did not work until the last day we were there. the vents for the Air conditioning on the ceiling were held in by one screw. there was cracks and chipping in the ceiling. after we told the maid service that they can make up our room by leaving the sign outside the door, it was not until 4 in the afternoon that they came. i would recommend this to you if you are a diehard redsox fan due to its close location near fenway park. i would not recomend this hotel to anybody looking for comfort or luxury.

Trip Type: Business Review 8 of 19Quality hotel
There are many things to like about this hotel: friendly staff, small comfortable rooms, good beds, a good inhouse restaurant, and convenience to public transportation. My wife and I combined a weekend holiday in Boston with a few days of work at a local university. The hotel's location gave us ready access to all areas of Boston with moderate short travel time on the T and buses. Our room on the 6th floor and facing the inner courtyard provides us with a quiet room. We will stay at the Buckminster again and recommend it to friends. g in Springfield VA

Trip Type: With Friends Review 9 of 19Definately NOT a 1 star hotel
I'd give it a 3 or 4 star rating! I've stayed at this hotel 3 times in the last 3 years and it's great. Granted it's more vintage than some of the other hotels around Boston, but the overall comfort and service is outstanding for the price. This time around, our room had a view of Fenway Park which is always great. I like that there are kitchens and laundry on every floor (those come in handy especially with the snowy weather- you can pop your wet items right into the dryer!) Every room has a microwave, refridgerator, and safe. Location is just right- the T stop and bus station is across the street, a couple decent bars and restaurants are available within walking distance. Plus, you get a continental breakfast which is always nice. The only downside I'd say is the guest business service- they have 1 computer and the internet was having problems during my stay.

Trip Type: Special Event Review 10 of 19across the road from fenway
the only issues we had with this hotel are that the staff did not vacuum under the bed for at least a year and the bed was as stiff as a board. there was a mini fridge and microwave and the free breakfast in the morning was impressive. pizzeria unos is right below the hotel, there is a parking area connected to the hotel that costs $18 a day, and it's right in the heart of boston.

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 11 of 19Good location
If you are looking for a big room, friendly front desk, and just a place to stay - this works. Bathroom floors needed much better cleaning - everything is old (bed, chairs, small elevators etc.)- but an ok place. It's an over 100 year old hotel that makes most of the above justifiable (except the cleaning). A walk around the corner from Fenway and the university which works nicely.

Trip Type: With Friends Review 13 of 19You pay for what you get
Good hotel for those not too concerned about above average room quality. The price paid (relatively inexpensive) equals the quality of the room (average). Great hotel for those attending a Red Sox game--no more than 2 blocks away from Fenway. Close to a great mode of transportation, the T-system (subway trains).
