Trip Type: With Friends Review 1 of 85Good value and location
Old but clean. A great value and all of downtown Vancouver is walkable from here. I parked my car in their lot for two days and had no problem. Did not hear of any break-ins while we were there, nor was there any evidence of any (no broken glass).

Trip Type: Overnight Stay Review 2 of 85Good hotel for the money
Convenient location in downtown Vancouver, walking distance/or good public transportation practically to all places of interest in the area. Good for the price. Clean rooms, but need handyman maintenance. Front lobby and eating place need remodeling.

Trip Type: Overnight Stay Review 3 of 85Scary exterior, good room, great loaction!
Don't let the worn facade put you of (no wonder a development application has been forwarded for the building). Very good for the price of it! Don't know about the street-side rooms, though.

Downtown location. Near shopping, and other attractions.

Trip Type: Family Review 5 of 85Good Value
Clean, comfortable, reasonable location. We tok hop on/off trolley to tour & move around the city when not walking. Staff was great both housekeeping and desk. We had a street facing room so had street noise.

Trip Type: Family Review 6 of 85As bad as everyone said
After reading all the negative reviews, I booked this hotel anyway thinking "surely it can't be THAT bad"... but unfortunately it was. The rooms were small... the carpet... SO old. In our bathroom, both faucets leaked and the showerhead spray was all uneven and all over the place. The tub took an hour to drain. We used 3 towels the first night... and the next day they were not replaced. We only had one for the following day and had to ask for more. Both nights we laid awake listening to fights on the street below. At least the sheets weren't threadbare (though they were very scratchy, 200 thread count?) The only redeeming things: the location was great (though I wouldn't consider it walking distance to Granville Island or Stanley Park), and the free parking is nice (though the spaces are tiny). I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone.

the hotel was okay, but not great. basically didn't plan on spending much over a bill a night. parking was free, ice machines broken... the reservation said we could check in at noon, but found out we could not get to our rooms till 2pm.. rooms were not so clean, and very hot fro September. ac was busted... not good value for price... must find another hotel room next trip to Vancouver, BC

It was a great location. It was good to have free parking and the price was right.

Trip Type: Overnight Stay Review 10 of 85Great Location
The hotel location was great. But the hotel was old, although clean. It was unseasonable hot and the window air conditioner really couldn't keep up and was very noisy. Also a lot of street noise with the window open. I used earplugs, so got a good night's sleep - not so for my roomate. The front desk service was excellent and very friendly and helpful.

The gentleman at the front desk is annoyed with everyone he meets. also they have a rule that No one is allowed in the hotel without a keycard after 10 pm. So you can forget about bringing anyone home with you.

Trip Type: Overnight Stay Review 12 of 85Rough start ended well
Initially greeted by a stressed desk clerk who informed me that my room - promised at noon - would not be ready until 2pm but was later extended a sincere apology. I'd definitely stay here again - the rooms are spacious and although the view from the window was dismal, the location was great - we walked everywhere, including to Stanley Park.

Trip Type: Special Event Review 14 of 85Front desk rudeness...
I had just arrived after a very long drive from Portland OR, and I really had to use the restroom. The man at the counter was moving at a snail's pace when checking in the guest ahead of me in line. With my bags and a few hangers with clothes in hand, (it was very obvious that I was there as a guest to the hotel) I politley asked: "Sir? Is there a restroom anywhere on this floor?" He replied with: "there's a Starbuck's around the corner that has one". "That's ok, I'll just wait until I check in" I said. When the man was finished checking in the other guest, he went back to whatever it was he was doing while I stood there doing an "I have to pee" jig. Then, about a minute later, he decided to aknowledge my presence and asked "how can I help you?" This was by far the worst I have ever been treated upon check-in at a hotel. The room was adequate, and the location was less than a mile from my destination, which was the main cause for the stay. In all fairness, there was a gentlemen from Germany working the counter upon my check out who was very nice. Still, I would say that if you can avoid this hotel, do so.

this hotel was clean and in a great location. if you are on the fence i would defintely stay at this hotel again. the staff is really helpful you just have to ask and they have better maps than what you can get at the airport. only warning is that one street over is Granville and it has interesting people lots of tattoos, piercings, and colored hair. There is even and bus stop right across the street. The only problem is Howe is a oneway so no return bus stop on Howe it's two blocks away.
