Trip Type: Romance Review 1 of 28I fought with the AC and heater all night
This is a beautifully situated hotel and that is worth a stay right there. We got a deal in a traditional room, which was indeed very outdated. It was clean which was all I cared about. I could also hear everything from my neighbor through the party door, which was annoying because I knew my conversations could be heard, too. The most frustrating thing was that in October the heat was blasting and I couldn't turn it off. I tried putting on the AC but when it cycled off it just kicked onto heat again. I didn't realize the problem until the middle of the night when I had to call the front desk. If you are staying here definately do for a few nights so you can take advantage of the amenities. One night didn't allow us any of that, but we had to pay for the extra resort fee. I have mixed feelings about the hotel and would stay longer is a more updated room next time.

Trip Type: Overnight Stay Review 3 of 28Not worth the price
The grounds were lovely and the buildings were beautiful older structures, but our room needed updating and maintenance. Service was lacking for a facility that bills itself as a "resort and spa". The restaurant was mediocre and over-priced. Located in a high-end residential neighborhood about 8 miles outside of town. If your desire is to stay in a quiet setting in historic old buildings, this is your place. If you want a true "resort and spa" experience, with luxury and pampering service, don't bother.

Trip Type: Romance Review 5 of 28If you want to commune with nature, this is the place for you!
We had a lovely 4 nights stay at Bishop's Lodge. Our deluxe suite was at the top of the hill, very quiet, and extremely comfortable. We had a fireplace and a little patio for our use. There is a bit of hilly walking involved with some of the rooms/suites that are away from the main area, so be warned. This is NOT a posh loop-dee-doo spa/resort where you can walk around in your little Christian Louboutin's and expect to get waited on hand and foot. There IS a spa, however, which offers the usual massage/facial/mani/pedi fare. I did not partake. There is also a pool/2 jacuzzis that are open 24 hours (!!!) and they offer complimentary yoga/pilates/meditation (one once a day) daily. We took a yoga class and were impressed with the instructor and level of class, it was pretty good. The resort also offers horseback riding for a fee (we failed to do this due to "muddy trails"... so sad) and is great for families. The hiking trails around the resort are also fabulous, and there were so many birds to be seen. I added 14 life birds to my list without even leaving the hotel grounds! We enjoyed the breakfast buffet (about $15) two mornings, which had an omelet station. Didn't really dine there otherwise, there are too many other great restaurants in Santa Fe! The resort is a 5 minute (maybe) drive north of the city so you're close to everything. It was, however, really nice to be away from the business of the plaza and downtown. We're so happy we stayed at Bishop's Lodge!

Trip Type: Family Review 6 of 28A bit overrated
I spent six nights at this hotel & on balance enjoyed my stay. The hotel offered many items which I did not take advantage of, so I think I would have been better off at a hotel where these amenities were not included in the price. We had one disappointment. The restaurant billed itself as fine dining with fine dining prices. I was quite disappointed in the food and service. To be fair the food service manager tried very hard to make up for the poor performance of the chefs and the service, but the damage had been done. For the money I would stay at an in town hotel.

Trip Type: Family Review 7 of 28hanging in there
this hotel tries hard, it is old and the grounds are extensieve. the price of staying here just cannot support the cost of the overhead, as the facilities are in need up updating. the value is high and the hotel staff works hard to please. if you can accept the challanges, it is a great place to stay.

Trip Type: Business Review 10 of 28A little ways out there....
Nice layout of the hotel but it is quite a ways from surrounding places. The room had a fire place, great, but the room had a constent smell of fire even though we tried to air it out. The fire could not put off enough heat, there should be a working heater. All three days there could not get the heater to come on. The internet access never worked either. I had to drive to a local Starbucks for internet access. Cell phone coverage is very shotty! Carefull when using the phone in the room... a 30 sec call is quite expensive!

Trip Type: Romance Review 12 of 28We loved it!
This place is very beautiful and peacefull. We were upgraded to a room with a fireplace and because we booked through hotels.com, did not have to pay the daily resort fee. Bed was comfy. Would like to go back.

Trip Type: Business Review 14 of 28Peaceful Retreat
This resort is a few miles outside of downtown Santa Fe and sits up in the hills. It is in a beautiful location--the property has a lot of land for hiking and walking and the views are spectacular. It was very peaceful! I stayed in the main lodge at first--small rooms with older southwestern furniture. It was quaint but charming. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. When they planned some late night repairs to the kitchen (one floor below my room), they notified me ahead of time and moved me to a larger, more modern suite with a gas fireplace in one of the remote buildings. I can't wait to go back again!

What a beautiful restful place! It was very clean and the staff were all very nice and helpful. Note the King size bed I had was not twins put together as noted in another review. Very comfortable.
