Hotel Features. Best Western Wollongong's exterior is an ultra- modern study in black and white that gives the hotel the appearance of a sharply-defined abstract painting. Opened in 2008, the nonsmoking hotel provides wireless Internet access in public areas, business services and a meeting room. Complimentary newspapers are available in the lobby and breakfast is offered for a fee. The hotel also includes guest laundry facilities. Guest parking is complimentary. Pets are not permitted at this hotel.
Guestrooms. The seven-story's 53 apartment-style guestrooms include full kitchens with dining areas. Kitchens include stovetops, refrigerators, microwaves, coffee and tea makers, cookware, dishes, utensils and minibars. All offer furnished balconies with ocean and city or mountain and city views. Amenities include wireless Internet access, satellite or cable television, direct-dial phones, CD and DVD players, hair dryers and irons and ironing boards. All guestrooms are air-conditioned.
Expert Tip. Nan Tien Buddhist Temple, located 15 kilometers from the hotel on the southern edge of Wollongong, is considered the largest of its kind in the southern hemisphere. It was built using traditional techniques and materials, but includes several modern features. The temple complex offers a museum, two large prayer halls, numerous statues, a garden, pagodas and a restaurant. The temple's architectural design is significant because it incorporates styles from several different branches of Buddhism, including Chinese, Tibetan and Japanese. The temple offers weekend retreats for visitors who wish to learn more about Buddhism or Chinese culture.
