The Price is Right!

We stayed here our first night in Costa Rica, a week later, and then our last night in the country. While the surrounding area may not be the best, the location was Great and inside the hotel was secure. Breakfast was delicious and filling. Front desk was very helpful. Overall, the price was perfect, and we would definitely go here again.

Great People Staff and Nice Stay

I definitively stay in this hotel again. Staff on this hotel are helpful and kindness, they tried to help you in the most way they can do. Bed are really comfortable and the weather in Costa Rica allows you not to turn on the air conditioning, but I like cold rooms so I turned in and the temperature was really cold as I want. This hotel has pool so you can swin from 6 am to 6 pm. I recommend to do it by midday or early in the afternoon when the sun is high and become hot so you can not feel to freezing the water in the pool. This hotel is near everything, so you can walk up to Central Avenue where you can find many shops and food courts to have a lunch. This hotel is located in a bad neighborhood so if you have business to do in the city, do it in the day because the night is to relax in the room. I really enjoyed doing business from this hotel, front desk staff is really good and helpful. Breakfast is great, you will have options to have. You can have a local breakfast ;Gallo Pinto, or an American Breakfast and as always coffee is free. The hotel has a tour operator so you can make travel plans to go to another place in the country. I will be coming back with my wife here again.

Decent Hotel, Horrble neighborhood

The people at the hotel were very nice, the hotel was maintained well, and the employees did everything in their power to make our stay a pleasant one. I have no complaints about the hotel, and if it were anywhere else, I would strongly recommend it. However, it is located in a cesspool of a neighborhood, crawling with street creatures in a very dangerous environment.

Excellent Hotel and Staff - Good Value and convenient to downtown San Jose, Costa Rica. the area doesn't look pretty but is not dangerous. Most all of the time take a cab anyway!

Great place to hole up your last night in Costa Rica

I have stayed here many times because of their convenient free airport shuttle that begins at 4 AM, free welcome cocktails, free breakfast, and reasonable rates. It is in a rough neighborhood, but if you stay inside or take cabs everywhere, you will be fine. I would return due to the American-standard level accommodations at a good price.

STAY ANYWHERE ELSE BUT HERE

I stayed here on the last night of my week in Costa Rica to be closer to the airport and had a horrible experience. The hotel is absolutely deplorable... it's in an awful neighborhood and it's further away from the airport (and anything else in San Jose) than the other Best Western in San Jose. Towels, pillows, soap, and everything else was at a bare minimum and the hotel is surrounded by tin-roofed shanties that were so depressing to look at that I kept the window blinds closed until I left. I could tell immediately when I arrived that I didn't want to be there and I inquired about transferring my reservation to the other Best Western across town and staying there, but the front desk refused to do it; they even refused to offer me a credit for my stay that I could apply towards a night in the other Best Western location. There are no dining options anywhere near the hotel, but it doesn't matter since you don't want to leave the hotel and walk around anyway. They have a deli-style cafeteria that served horrible food and had no selection. I wound up eating 2 banannas during my stay and caught the first shuttle to the airport the following morning.

Bad location

Absolutely not the location you want to be. It is not safe t ogo outside the hotel at night or to walk around during the day. The Iruza location is much closer to the Airport and in a nice area.

do not consider unless you have no choice

Neighborhood was awful. Very unsafe. Rooms in 1/2 the hotel are overlooking a busy very noisy road. Do NOT stay here unless you are very stuck! The staff was very helpful and pleasant.
