Great Location for Touring Reims

The hotel is ideal for visiting Reims. It sits on the pedestrian walkway featuring restaurants, bars and shopping. The cathedral and other touristy sights are within walking distance. If you are there for the Champagne houses you will need to drive to visit them.

Great location

We enjoyed three relaxing nights at the Hotel de la Paix in Reims. The location allows you to access everything easily - particularly if you are using the train from Paris. It is a short walk to the "gare." Breakfasts were very expensive - we didn't indulge - and DON'T drink the champagne in the minibar! There was no price list - and we wanted to celebrate being in Champagne country after three flights and two train rides - so we indulged. Small bottle - 38 euros! Other than that - we were very happy and would return. The hotel has a lot of interesting architecture and features - and includes a small fitness center and pool

Pleasant hotel in the center of Reims

Having wanted wanted to visit Reims for many years, I finally made it and had a wonderful place to stay. The staff were all helpful, the hotel was within easy walking distance of historic Reims and also Champagne Caves. To top it off, the restaurant in the hotel is excellent--and the wait staff personable and helpful: on the second evening I was greeted warmly and asked about my day, an experience rare in my travels in Europe as a woman traveling and dining alone.

Not for couples

Although the hotel is very beautiful and comfortable, there are certain aspects that make it very cold and unhospitable. Upon arrival, we were directed to the car park and received by a member of the staff. There is no help with luggage, in fact, my husband took out our 2 suitcases and the gentleman just stared at us as we juggled with the two bags and made our way to the elevator. Not even a friendly, "May I help you..." For check in, another gentleman just looked at me and said, "So I guess you are here to check in?" what is that? not even hello, welcome, something? this is why I say it is very cold. And unless you say do not disturb, you will have a chambermaid in your room at 9am without knocking. Be forwarned that the beauty of the hotel and the comfort is surpassed by the cold rudeness of the staff.
