Trip Type: Romance Review 1 of 567Outstanding
Stayed there on July 4th night 1. Hotel very clean 2. Front staff very accommodating - gave us our room preference 3. Maintenance on point - our AC and TV were fixed promptly 4. Provided us with fireworks tickets to rooftop skybar 5. Very chic hotel, would definitely stay there again 6. Bed was 7/10 comfort 7. Room was a tad on the small side but the full length window ( only on the x24 units) made up for it 8. Complimentary champagne for 4th of july 9. Found parking right on street right in front of hotel, it was weekend so meter was free. 10. VERY reasonable rate compared to other DC hotels on that night

Trip Type: Family Review 2 of 567Old hotel, nothing around and a mouse trap
I hate when I have to do a bad review, but I write in name of my mother that reported to have a mouse trap under her bed !!!! She was not able to sleep for 2 nights afraid of rats. Sorry guys, but for a 3 1/2 stars ( and the price that was payed), my family was expecting a little bit more. I wish I could have a refund...

Pros: Location was very convenient to where I needed to be; neighborhood seemed nice; the wifi (which costs extra) worked; other than behind the bed (see below), the room was visibly clean. Cons: Room (on first floor) was obviously a converted conference room or rec room; one entire wall of the room was one of those pull-out industrial room-divider things you see in coroporate conference rooms -- I may as well have been sharing a room with the stranger(s) "next door"; outdoor seating for the hotel restaurant was literally directly outside my window -- no gap, no hedges, no elevation, nothing -- literally bed --> window --> table and chairs (there was even a locked door, covered by a separate curtain, that formerly led directly from patio into the now-converted conference/rec room); presumably due to proximity to patio and lobby, there was a strong cigarette odor to room and linens, despite this being a non-smoking room/floor; air ducts made a very loud, resonating humming sound throughout the night -- almost siren-like in intensity -- making sleep all-but impossible; either my bed was missing its headboard, or the maids just never bothered to look in the very large gap between the bed and the wall - it was filthy with dirt, dust bunnies, various pieces of small detritus (plastic ties, paper clips, etc.)

Trip Type: Special Event Review 6 of 567Beacon of Hope
Beacon Hotel far exceeded our expectations. We were upgraded to a suite (with fireplace) and that was awesome. Very modern, with full kitchen and eating/rest area.At no extra charge... We could have stayed there a week or more. The room rate was half of what a NYC hotel would charge and the suite was superb, with panoramic views of Washington. Service was great, concierge folks were very cordial. Valet parking was prompt and friendly. Location top notch. Only caveat was a guest on our floor lit up cigarettes in their room against policy and that made it uncomfortable for everyone. Smoke smell infiltrated our room.

Trip Type: Rest and Recreation Review 10 of 567Nice hotel, nothing special
This is a fine place to stay if you just need a bed to sleep and access to some amenities. Nothing special about the service (though housekeeping was friendly). No extras involved - they have a restaurant and bar on-site, so did not offer even the lightest of continental breakfasts, wireless access was pricey, those sorts of little things that stand out. Room was fine, again nothing to write home about, no real view of the city, unless maybe you are on the front of the building on the upper floors or want to spend time in the roof-top bar.

Trip Type: Special Event Review 12 of 567Very rude staff
I stayed for one night recently while in town for a wedding. The room was fine... comfortable, clean, etc. but the staff at the front desk was spectacularly rude. Three different people were difficult to deal with, both at night and the next morning. Each of them refused to make eye contact, didn't give direct answers to questions, and seemed annoyed with me for wasting their time by trying to check in or requesting a late checkout. I did request a late checkout (which provides only 30 extra minutes) but it took two tries, and then a manager knocked on the door at the early checkout time and harrassed the friend I was staying with anyway. The location is fantastic and if you need a place just to crash, it will do, but don't expect to be made to feel welcome.

Trip Type: Business Review 14 of 567Meh - Loud
Things at the beacon are over priced, rooms you can hear the people around you and there is a lot of road noise where I was. IT is ok... over priced for what it is but if you need a bed... its got them
