Bavarian Manor Country Inn

Location. The Bavarian Manor Country Inn is nestled on 100 acres on the edge of the Catskill Forest Preserve in the northern Catskill Mountains in Purling, N.Y., close to hiking, golfing and ski slopes. Wyndham Mountain and Hunter Mountain are less than 15 miles from the inn. Woodstock is approximately five miles away.

Features. This four-story, Victorian-style inn has been in continuous operation since 1865, owned by the same family for three generations. The property features a six-acre private lake and country trails. An award-winning restaurant on the premises also serves as an extern teaching kitchen for the Culinary Arts of America. The restaurant offers fire-side dining serving German-American cuisine, from classic German Schnitzel to steaks and seafood dishes, and a cocktail lounge. A common sitting area features a fireplace, a big-screen television, easy chairs and a coffee table with board games. Complimentary full country breakfasts are served each morning at private tables. The inn offers free local calls, business services and wireless Internet access. Children seven years and younger stay free when staying in the same room as their parents or guardians using existing bedding. The property is pet friendly.

Guestrooms. The guestrooms at the Bavarian Manor Country Inn each have their own personality, with a wide range of colors and décor. Select rooms offer a 40-mile view of Massachusett's Berkshire Mountains to the east. All rooms offer private bathrooms, air conditioning, cable television and coffeemakers. Select rooms feature fireplaces, jetted tubs, mini fridges and DVD players.

Expert Tip. The lake on the property has huge bass and catfish. If guests are quiet and lucky, they might see a snapping turtle named "Big Mama," which according to the innkeepers is as "big as a tire." A fee will be assessed for guests under the age of seven if bedding needs to be set up. Fees are determined by the inn and subject to change.
