Trip Type: With Friends Review 1 of 6Hotel good for families or large groups
The hotel was nice. It just didn't meet our expectations of a nice, quiet vacation on the beach. It had all the amentities the website said, including good, courteous service, but the amount of people and children were a little overwhelming. The pool lounge chairs were about 80% taken by 7:30 am. The food was okay, not phenominal, but always plentiful. The bars outside of the pool were good. The hotel entertainment was minimal but good. This is an excellent place to let your kids go crazy, lots of fun related to family activity. If you are looking for a relaxing time, go somewhere else.

Trip Type: Family Review 3 of 6Unexpected room, friendly staff
We arrived at the hotel and they had our reservation but no information whatsoever on the amount we paid. The hotel was full so I guess that we ended in a room below our rate because I booked one room with two beds and it had a king bed. They quickly installed a single bed but it was not as comfortable as the king, so we ended sleeping with the daughter. The room has a peculiar design with closets under the stairs that go to the next floor room. It was smelly at times. Other than that, the hotel staff was super friendly, in particular the entertainment crew. In spite of the room situation, I will recommend this hotel to any body looking for a family getaway by the ocean.

Trip Type: Family Review 4 of 6Beautiful Hotel near the ocean!
We enjoyed our stay at the Barcelo very much! The room was beautiful and the grounds/live music/ views of the ocean were beyond our expectations. The only thing that we were not all that crazy about was the food offered by the buffet. Food temps, some affected by the heat were difficult to get used to. The wait staff, however, couldn't have been more accommodating.

The staff was great and the food in the snack bar and the 3 meals where great. The hotel was a little bit hard to find but once we got there we loved it. overall it was a great hotel.

Trip Type: Family Review 6 of 6Outstanding Hotel
The Hotel has been remodeled and is very nice. The staff could be friendlier and the stocking of amenities could improve by much. I recommend asking for extra towels at the reservation stage and requesting a newer room away from the stream (due to the mosquitos).
