I have been in Torquay many times over the last fifteen years as my relatives live there. This time I stayed in a long standing landmark hotel called the Imperial Hotel which has a wonderful reputation. (Even with various ownerships) The garden room, which I had the first two nights, was extremely large with a large deck. The third night which was one that I extended while there also provided a very nice room with a wonderful view. The hotel is very close to the marina and town center with it's shops and various restaurants/pubs. The hotel is quite large with many interesting rooms reflecting it's history. The bar and outside patio overlooking Torbay is great for a relaxing drink and a magazine/book. The included breakfast was great too as was the huge dining room. I would definitely recommend this hotel and will stay for a longer time on my next trip. My only recommendation for the hotel would be that when I did have a question I had to go to the front desk as many of the staff did not understand English. Maybe it was my American accent :)
