    The hotel is nicely located with direct access to the beach. Our room was pretty big. Could use a second suitcase rack and a desk for writing purposes. The bathroom should get a make over, though. And extra chairs for the small balcony would be a welcome addition. Overall a good place for the price we paid.

    I visited with a group of 15 college students on spring break and this hotel was great. It did not have the typical spring break atmosphere, but it was very comfortable. If we wanted to party more we were very close to other spring break hotels. Great location with okay food, but most importantly the bar was very good. Great atmosphere, but it was very helpful to know a little basic spanish as most of the workers and guests only speak spanish.

Location. The Avalon Excalibur Acapulco stands on Hornos Beach midway along Acapulco, Mexico's resort strip. This hotel is positioned two blocks from Zona Dorado shops and restaurants, and downtown Acapulco is less than one kilometer away.

Hotel Features. The Bellavista is an open-air, bay-view restaurant that serves international buffets for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Casual beachfront ambience greets guests of the thatched-roof El Cocotero restaurant. High-speed Internet access is available for a fee. For recreation and relaxation, this hotel offers an outdoor pool and 45 thatched-roof palapas that dot the beach. Additional property amenities include complimentary supervised children's activities. Several nights a week, the activities/entertainment staff presents shows performed in the Bellavista restaurant. Daylight activities include kayak tours of Acapulco Bay, handicrafts, pool aerobics, darts, dance lessons and beer-drinking contests.

Guestrooms. The Avalon Excalibur Acapulco offers 400 air-conditioned guestrooms and suites in a 19-story building. All accommodations feature balconies with views of the city and mountains to the east or Acapulco Bay to the west. Additional room amenities include satellite television, in-room safes and complimentary toiletries. Located on the top floor, suites feature balconies and contemporary Mexican furnishings. Room and suite décor features tile floors, white ceilings, pastel-accented walls and light-colored wood furniture.

Expert Tip. Families and exercise enthusiasts can walk across the street to Papagayo Park, a public park that offers skateboarding and rollerblading areas, plus amusement rides.
