I recently stayed at Au Bel Air hotel in Leysin two nights, separated by a week. When I rushed in an hour after check-in time for my second stay, the owner, who was working with other guests, looked up, greeted me by name, and simply handed me my key and said, "Welcome back, your room is ready!" That was the end of my registration process. His wife drove me to the train station after my first night there--I had a car for the second night--and they could not have been more helpful. The rooms are simple, plain, mountain-rustic wood, but very comfortable and well appointed. One caution, however. Leysin is a town built on a giant complex of switch-back roads, and the street signs are non-existent, and places can be hard to find. A detailed map is essential. Leaving yesterday morning in the dark, rain, and fog--read "in the clouds"--was an interesting experience. But I plan to take my family back next year, and I'm sure I'll be recognized. This place was a real find.

Hotel staff was very friendly and accommodating. Helpful with questions about the room and surrounding area. Nice mountain view from room and breakfast terrace. Good breakfast selection.
