Trip Type: Romance Review 16 of 37Relatively good hotel
We had problems regulating the temperature of the room - often we had to leave the window open in order to be comfortably cool at night. The room itself was modern, very clean and characteristically (for Europe) small, with a double bed - which was a modest disappointment for my 191 cm frame. A buffet-style breakfast that was included occasionally seemed a bit chaotic during our 5-day stay, with a somewhat disorganized waitstaff, but there was a reasonable selection of foods selected for both American and European tastes. The location of the hotel on what could be considered a side street in Paris had advantages (quiet) and disadvantages (difficult to locate at times). Overall, considering that the hotel was in Paris, we felt that the accomodations were reasonable for the price.

The concierge was exceptionally knowledgeable and extremely helpful. Hotel service was excellent and within 2 blocks of the nearest metro station. Will recommend to anyone!

Trip Type: With Friends Review 20 of 37Outstanding Hotel in Great Location- great value too
this hotel was situated in the elegant 8th district around the block from the Buddha bar and the famous Crillon Hotel. it located down a very small narrow street (therefore no traffic) and was very quiet. it was beautiful on the outside and on the inside. i felt very safe and we were 5 blocks from an ATM and the subway. we had a safe, mini-bar, AC, wonderful shower, crisp white linens, and decent TV. although we didn't use the concierge, they would've been great. the entire staff was very nice. breakfast was not included and was $40/person (apparently the going rate for Europe) and our room was a little small. this was a 4 star hotel for a bargain, a small boutique hotel that i would stay in again and again.

Trip Type: Overnight Stay Review 21 of 37Great Location
Just like all Paris hotel rooms this one was small too, although clean and in a great walk-able location. My only objection was from what I'm assuming was the female manager who noted to a clerk that we had booked through a third party (hotels.com) and made sure we weren't going to get any additional services such as breakfast or a room with a view.

Trip Type: Special Event Review 22 of 37Very good value for money
Very charming upscale hotel. Renovated rooms in a distinctive French style. The hotel has 130 rooms, but it feels very cosy and friendly. A nice alternative to a bigger chain hotel (although it used to be a boutique Sofitel). We had a room on the 7th floor which is very nice as you get bright light in the summer.

Trip Type: Family Review 23 of 37A decent value but recommend finding a better location
Pros: - Excellent Service - Friendly staff that spoke English - unlike most of our experience with the general Parisen public who seemed to be very disinterested/basically rude and arrogant in helping American tourists - even though we tried to speak French when asking for help - Monoprix (Grocery store about 2 1/2 blocks away) - Relatively close to St. Augustin Metro - about 3-4 small blocks - High end feel to lobby/restaurant Cons: - Relatively speaking, rooms are still pretty small for the money - AC was very very weak (basically it didn't work and they supposedly fixed it - they offered to move us from 5th to 2nd floor) - The refrigerator/mini bar was just a bit better than room temperature (no ice machines - you have to call for room service to deliver or walk down to the restaurant bar with an ice bucket) - Location was safe and close to what seemed to be daily Parisien life (read, not close to any significant tourist attractions) - A few cafes around the metro but the hotel area was not a great neighborhood for restaurants, shopping or hanging around after a day of seeing the sights - Internet worked for only one of the four days

Trip Type: Romance Review 24 of 37Great Value
Full service hotel great for all basic needs (but not if you are looking to constantly remain on premises and rely on a wide range of facilities). Good location, within walking distance to most key sites in the 8th and to subway on a relatively quiet street (for sleeping). Clean, well kept rooms with ambient decor. Great value overall, I would recommend it.

Trip Type: Romance Review 25 of 37Nice Hotel
The hotel was nice and the staff were very polite, pleaseant and helpful. The house keeping service needed some improvement, for example they would not change the sheets every day and we had to ask them specifically twice to do that.

Trip Type: Not Provided Review 28 of 37When it's your money, not the company's.
my room was pretty not pokey..i found the concierge and front desk staff to be very friendly and helpful.. the location, mid-way between metro stops and not far from great shopping and eating was a plus. I was glad there was an in-room safe, since a few years ago, my wallet and passport were stolen from my room in a supposedly "very good" Paris hotel. The mini-bar had enough space in it so that I was able to stash a few things i had bought to eat in my room. i travel a lot in my work and stay in much more expensive hotels with excellent services for business travelers. You get spoiled, so when it's your own money, and you can't or won't pay for that level of accommodation, the astor, I think, is a good choice. You get professionalism and attractive surroundings for what in Paris is a reasonable price. My only quibble..they were pretty stingy with the amenities, only one soap for my whole stay, when one for the sink and a different one for the bath would have been nice. there was a nice little box with cotton pads, q-tips, etc. in it. I ran out of cotton pads. they were not replenished.
