Trip Type: Romance Review 1 of 7Very Satisfied with Our Stay
Love the fact that all rooms are oceanfront. We had a recently updated studio and it was great. The only real issue (minor) was the housekeeper didn't seem to understand she should leave a spare roll of toilet paper in the room. Plenty of parking, nice pool area, beach is OK but a very nice section of beach is just 100 yards north. The balcony renovation project didn't bother us because the work is only Monday-Friday 9 am to 3 pm --- when we are out of the room anyway. The new all-glass balcony rails are a nice improvement. Definitely will stay here again.

Trip Type: Business Review 2 of 7needs updating
This property appears to be a property in transition. There seems to be a lot of work going on-there was scaffolding in front of the building(in front of one of our rooms for two days, actually)the entire time we were there. They appeared to be painting/repairing the outside of the building. I rented six units and some of them were beautiful-recently updated and redecorated and some of them were dated and in need of redecorating. It would be interesting to return in a year or so for a second look at this property. It has recently changed hands-from ResortQuest to Aston and the new owners seem to be working toward many improvements. The hotel staff was very friendly but they only have one person at the front desk so even if you have a simple question or request, if you get behind someone checking in, you will wait a very long time to be helped. Maid service is okay, but they only make the beds and give you clean towels. They don't sweep the floors or wipe anything down. The furniture on the lanai was covered with sandy dust so we spent a bit of time cleaning that up so we could sit at the table out there.

Trip Type: Romance Review 4 of 7"Amazing View!"
The room was awesome and the view was amazing. The hotel is a little ride (10 minutes) to the shops of Kaanapali, but it was definitely worth it. If we return to Maui we will stay here again!

All the rooms in this property face the ocean, and are within a stone's throw of the water...beautiful view, beautiful surf sounds, and just a great location.

Trip Type: Family Review 6 of 7Great value but be specific about the room you want
We just returned from our second stay at the Mahana and overall, it is a great value given that all rooms are oceanfront but our experience with the room on this stay was not as good as our first stay. The first time we stayed there we were on the 8th floor with an unobstructed view in a nicely remodeled room. We specifically requested that room for this stay but upon check in, we were informed that it was no longer in the rental program. I asked for a room on a higher floor and we were given a 4th floor room that had supposedly been "updated" - perhaps it was updated in the 80's. Along with the quality of the room it smelled of carpet cleaning solution so we asked for another room. Again, asked for a room on a high floor. We were given a 3rd floor room, which was much more updated in terms of decor and it had a 2nd bath but it had a giant palm tree blocking almost the entire view. We were too worn out to complain again. The lesson here is that the tops of the palm trees block views between floors 3-6. Some may like that, but we did not. As a repeat customer we were hoping our request for a remodeled room on a higher floor could have been accomodated. Overall the condo complex is nice. They did a great job with the new pool/BBQ area and you really can't get closer to the water. We really like the location; it's in a bit of a quieter area but is still very close to the main Kaanapali beach. Parking is easy and you are less than 10 minutes away from great beaches in either direction (including right in front of the condo).

Trip Type: Family Review 7 of 7Fantastic room
I've heard this may not be true for every room in the hotel, but ours was fantastic! We booked a two bedroom condo, and asked the hotel for one as high up as possible. They gave us the one on the top floor (12), which had a full ocean view from both the living room and the master bedroom, and a great mountain view from the other bedroom. The room had very high end finishes including plasma tvs in every room, large tile floors with area rugs, great beds, large showers with multiple fixtures, etc.
