Great Location, Lovely condos

Me and my husband took a vacation in Maui and stayed in Aston at Papakea resorts. The Condo we got was well maintained, very thoughtfully decorated, It had the perfect oceanfront view we had asked for. The kitchenette was well equipped. The Hotel staff was prompt and friendly. The location is also perfect because grocery stores and OGG Airport is at drivable distance. The only drawback would be the distances from Hana and Haleakala National Park.But if you have enough time and are just looking for relaxation, then this would be one of the places to consider.

Hor Air in Hawaii

We were excited about staying in a condo ... and it looked good from the photos and the other "spin" I read. We stayed but 2 days and simply burned up ... as the A/C blew air only! We didn't realize this until after the office closed! On the next morning I complained and was told a repair man would be in at 10AM ... yet when I got in that evening, again after office hours ... it was too late as they sent no one out to cool the place. Fairly clean and comfy! But I felt like a sweaty pig simply trying to find some ocean breeze! A major waste of money ... and I will not be back there. It was the only "negative" on our 9-day stay to Hawaii, sadly!

Two bedroom units not a good deal.

The Papakea's location is great. Close to Kaanapali, Napili, Kapaula. It's a little bit of a drive to Lahaina. The second bedroom units are all on the top floors of their complex and it gets VERY HOT in the second bedroom which is a loft. The air conditioner was in the living room area only so the bedroom on the same level gets some benefit, but the upstairs loft gets very little from the AC and is ridiculously uncomfortable. The staff there is great, otherwise. For my return trip to Maui I will stay somewhere else if I need a two bedroom unit.

Best Deal

Great value - there are 5 of us in my family so staying at hotels is costly because we need 2 rooms. In this place I think they said we could have added one or two more to our condo for the same price. It was a comfortable, laid back atomosphere. No crazy drunks roaming around the hallways at night. In the evening it was so peaceful the only sound you could hear was the waves crashing up to the shore. Our room did not have a direct view of the ocean (the bldg. was at an angle facing the condos across the way) but if we went out on the lanai/balcony we could sit on our chair and enjoy the ocean view. It is not a luxury hotel but it is a good condo resort. The bedding was very comfortable. It is about a 30 miles from the airport, but it was worth the drive. I felt we were in a prime spot. High tide does wipe out the beach in the evening but just a short walk down (less than 1/4 mile)you are able to find some nice beach areas. My husband was not sold on going to the islands, but after our visit he said he would go back and stay in the same place. Key words to describe the hotel- it was convienent and peaceful.

Poor loation

The room was a time-share condo. There was nothing 'wrong' with the condo (it was in good condition) but it was an eye-opener to condo life. The condo is on the west side of Maui, which, in my opinion, has been ruined by condo development. It's quite amazing that so many large and ugly condo units were allowed to be built together. It's a small city of relatively low-quality units. This is very much personal taste, but I would not want to go back there.

Very Satisfied

The Aston at Papakea is located in Kannapolli Shores beach resort area and it fits right in with the quality. A very beautiful property with super ocean view. The room was well supplied. The only thing missing was an onsite restaurant/bar, but those are available within walking distance. Taxi's can be expensive, so a rental car would be advised.

Had ocean view room each morning and evening the humpback whales were easily sighted from the rooms balcony. Great Perk!
