Trip Type: Not Provided Review 1 of 123Ok for a centrally located area
Beach access was awesome as it's next to a local favorite beach. No bar/restaurant activities other than a few hotel customers. Overall OK for the money. I probably would not stay there again as there are better options.

Trip Type: Family Review 2 of 123Great hotel & location
We stayed in the junior suite for 3 nights, 4 days with our 2 & 3 year olds and everything was better than we expected! The location is great, so close to the beach, the kamalani playground, shopping areas and dining areas. Our room was very clean and the housekeepers were always making sure that we had everything we needed. The only thing that I would have liked was room service (it isn't available at this hotel), but this is only my preference to make it easier for us and our kids. Overall, I would recommend this place and we would stay here in the future.

Trip Type: Business Review 3 of 123Great hotel for tough times
I found the hotel on Hotels.com and it was a good deal. Close to the ocean on the river and not too far from Lihue. Great value for the money. You get what you pay for but this was well worth what I paid on hotels.com. mahalo

Trip Type: Family Review 5 of 123Great room for the money
We reserved this hotel at the last minute and chose it specifically for it's location to the airport and for it's price. So our expectations were a bit low. But we were pleasantly surprised when we arrived. The grounds are beautiful, the staff was wonderful and the rooms were exactly what we needed...including a small refrigerator! The location was even better than we thought since it was a very short walk to the Lydgate beach...a perfect beach for our 2 year old. And the swimming pool/hot tub were great too. We were only at this hotel for 2 days and we enjoyed every minute of it. Our only complaint would be the roosters that wake you up at 6:30 am, but being there for only 2 days, it wasn't a problem for us.

Trip Type: Special Event Review 6 of 123Priced right for an average hotel
My expectations were based upon the price and quality. I chose this hotel for the location next to the river's mouth and the immediate beach in front of the hotel for fishing and swimming purposes. The beach is one of the better artificially protected beaches, which is good for snorkeling among trapped fish in the manmade lagoon. This is an older hotel built back in the haydays and there weren't too many signs of improvements when I stayed there. Found some bugs in the room, but that's expected for Kauai. The pool and jacuzzi were adequate. I thought the people that worked there went the extra mile to help you out, especially loaning me a beach towel after I checked out and wouldn't not mind if I had showered before leaving for my flight. I could have probably found better accomodations, but because of the location and my requirements, this hotel met my expectations. As for the restaurant and bar ambience KALAPAKI JOES LIHUE is the place to be and it's a few minutes away from the hotel. It is a restaurant rows with plenty of choices to eat. This bar has .25 cent wings and cheap beers, plus an awesome menu. If you want high end hotel check out the Princeville area and Marriott south of the airport, but you'll pay at least 2x the cost here.

Trip Type: Romance Review 7 of 123Great Location & Hotel for the price
This was one of the cheaper hotels on the island with a decent rating so we knew not to expect the ritz. We wanted a refrigerator for storing snacks & bed for sleeping and that was it as we knew we would be outside more than in. This hotel did great on both of those, the AC worked great, location was great as we laid out at lydgate park beach and did some snorkeling there as well which is directly behind the hotel. The staff was friendly including housekeeping even though we left our do not disturb sign up at all times, when they caught us in the hall, they were always asking if we wanted any fresh towels or service and we'd swap out towels and be back on our way. I'd say if your looking to save some money on a hotel to use it on activities or just to save in general, i don't think you can go wrong with this hotel.

Trip Type: Family Review 8 of 123Great location, okay hotel
The location is great, with Lyndgate beach right behind it, which is a perfect spot for children and snorkeling beginners. The hotel is about okay. Service is adequate, but out of 3 washer/driers, two are broken. The vending machine won't accept any dollar bills even though it's designed to. You can see spider webs in lots of places. The towels in the room are pretty worn out. We didn't try the dining hall. If you are in Kauai, want a hotel on the beach, and you will be spending most of your time outside of your hotel. Then this is a good place to stay with a reasonable price.

Trip Type: Overnight Stay Review 10 of 123Perfect "overniter"
This is the perfect place to stay for one or maybe two nights. We arrived a day before we could check into our timeshare. This hotel is close to the airport and the price is right.

Trip Type: Family Review 15 of 123Beautiful Ocean Views and Pool
The staff that checked us in and out were friendly and helpful. If you have your own computer there are "hot spots" in the lobby for free internet, if not they charge 20 cents a minute on their computers for internet connection. We had 2 rooms, one with a small refrigerator and 2 full size beds and one with a small kitchenette and 2 full size beds, they also offer a single king size bed. The kitchenette had a sink, dishes, small refrigerator, and cabinet space, but no microwave. There was a safe in the bathroom for a $2 daily charge. We had laundry facilities for guests near our room ($1.75 for wash and $1.50 to dry for 30 minutes- but the commercial washer couldn't handle 5 beach towels and it took 2 hours to dry them). The hotel has a great pool, tennis courts, outdoor grill with food for sale near the pool. There's an easy walk to the beach with an area for small children to swim with virtually no waves. The waves were rough in the surrounding ocean. Con's: The hotel is older, although well maintained. The beds were too hard for my liking and the pillows were small.
