Mixed Review

This is actually a motel so cars drive right up to your door/window, which was a surprise to me. I was traveling alone and put on the ground floor which weirded me out a little, but I also did not want to carry all of my luggage up a flight of stairs. The room was clean, the bed, mostly comfortable. Half of the staff was REALLY nice, but I left items in the room and it was a big hassle for them to get sent to me - I wound up NOT getting my items before I left the country and was pretty annoyed. If it weren't for two staff being so nice, I would have rated this motel a lot lower.

Great service and Friendly people

Very satisfied with the location, room size and service. The rooms we stayed in don't have carpet and it makes them a little more cold, but the people were great. Very helpful.

Dangerous Neighborhood

Aspect Central is not a safe neighborhood. There was a lot of graffiti, including 10+ taggings that said "Bloods" and "Crips" within a block of the motel. In addition, the neighboring room (above) looked directly into the bathroom window and the window was only partly obscured. I could see people on the balcony in that room several times and they could have easily looked into the bathroom and watched me dress or getting out of the shower. Half of the lightbulbs in the room were burned out. There was soap left from a previous guest. The good part was that we found the folks at the front desk helpful and friendly.

Nice Place in Cairns

The staff were very helpful in arranging our activities, the pool was nice, we were very satisfied with our stay at Aspect Central!

DIVE INTO THE ASPECT

WE WERE IN CAIRNS TO DIVE AND SPENT LITTLE TIME IN OUR ROOM OTHER THAN TO SLEEP. IT WAS AN INCREDIBLE BARGAIN FOR THAT. SUMMER HUMIDITY CAN PUT A STRAIN ON THE AIR CONDITIONING. IF YOU DON'T LIKE THE HEAT, YOU WON'T LIKE THE ASPECT. WILDFIRE RESTAURANT WAS VERY GOOD. 3 GUYS FROM FLORIDA

Great value for money

Pros: * Clean, comfortable rooms with choice of cross breezes or air conditioning * Across from bus stop with direct service to center/centre of town * Short walk to IGA grocery store * Rooms are shaded from the tropical sun on both sides * On-site coin laundry (GE)keeps sweaty clothes from piling up. Cons: * 24-hour check-in means up to 08:30 pm * Adjacent restaurant has variable hours. The in-room guide says breakfast at 06:30 am; the front desk, 07:30. It was still locked up tight at 08:30. * (52 Mbps Wi-Fi) Internet access "available" means hours of frustration trying to log in through the (offsite) access control system. The username and password on the voucher were not enough. I had to phone Victoria, two states away, using my own "dime" (AUD$0.70). The person on the other end was able to fix the problem on the 18th, but not the second time on the 21st. Fortunately, there was an Internet cafe with Japanese-enable XP machines 7 minutes' walk away on the road into town.
