    Nestled in a hillside above two very private, quiet and absolutely gorgeous beaches, the Arenas Del Mar exceeded all our expectations. For what would certainly rate as a five-star resort, the food and beverage prices were very reasonable and the service staff was extremely friendly and courteous. We rated the Arenas Del Mar as falling in our "top-10" all time favorite resorts we've stayed in throughout the US, Europe and the Carribean. The on-premises wildlife and birds were amazing. Truly an outstanding resort!

Location. The Arenas del Mar Beach & Nature Resort is located on the Central Pacific Coast in Manuel Antonio, Costa Rica. The 11-acre resort borders Espadilla Beach to the south and Playitas Beach to the north. The property overlooks Manuel Antonio National Park.

Hotel Features. The Arenas del Mar Beach & Nature Resort participates in Costa Rica's sustainable development project, modeling the concepts of the Certification for Sustainable Tourism. The "green" hotel employs an environmental supervisor, and all employees undergo sustainable tourism training. The resort utilizes solar power and recycled materials. The property also houses a recycling center and a greenhouse. Overlooking Espadilla Beach, El Mirador restaurant uses fresh local and seasonal ingredients to create authentic Costa Rican dishes. The beachside Playitas Snack Bar serves light fare and tropical beverages. Two white-sand beaches border the hotel. To the south, Espadillas Beach stretches two kilometers and connects to Manuel Antonio National Park. To the north, Playitas Beach boasts natural rock formations. Private nature trails wind through the rain forest. The hotel includes Las Brisas Spa, offering Basaltic Hot Stone Massages, Detoxifying Algae Wraps and Green Tea Scrubs. Two outdoor pools are on site.

Guestrooms. The Arenas del Mar Beach & Nature Resort offers 38 guestrooms featuring suite-style, apartment-style and studio-style floor plans. Rooms are furnished with tropical fabrics and vibrant artwork. Large private decks overlook the Manuel Antonio National Park, the Pacific Ocean, private beaches, and surrounding rain forests. All rooms offer king beds, spacious bathrooms, large closets, ceiling fans, air conditioning, flat-screen televisions, high-speed Internet access, telephones with direct-dial international call access, fully stocked minibars, coffeemakers, in-room safes, and irons and ironing boards.

Expert Tip. To ensure a stress-free day at the beach, Arenas del Mar Beach & Nature Resort packs picnic lunches and shuttles guests by electric car to the Playa Espadillas Beach on the south side of the resort.
