See more detailsIn the centre of Pienza, a Renaissance city planned following the will of Pope Pio II, the Antica Locanda is situated in a 15th Century palace that was once the site of a Papal Secretariat. Located on Corso Il Rossellino, the newly renovated residence has just four rooms and two mini-apartments. Each of the rooms on offer has its own individual character, with original timber beams and antique Tuscan furnishings. Some of the rooms have views of the Val d'Orcia, the valley below Pienza, while others overlook the city's historic centre. All are air conditioned and have private bathrooms, televisions and telephones. Larger rooms have oak furnishings and fully equipped kitchens with dining areas.
Although there is no restaurant, guests enjoy breakfast served each morning in their rooms. Amenities include safety-deposit box and Internet access. Due to the central location of the hotel, there is no onsite parking, but free parking is available 50 metres away. The trattorias in the little square by the hotel offer alfresco dining in spring and summertime. Guests looking to explore the area can visit Siena and Montalcino, or perhaps soothe any aches and pains in the therapeutic thermal springs of Chianciano and Bagno Vignoni, ten kilometres away. The hotel is approximately 200 kilometres from Rome Fiumicino airport.
