Trip Type: With Friends Review 2 of 37Great room for the money
Great location, not too far from Old Town Santa Fe. Clean rooms, well-supplied and maintained. Other hotels, restaurants, malls in the neighborhood - very convenient. Great breakfast.

Trip Type: Romance Review 3 of 37needs udating and smoking rooms eliminated
This could be a great hotel for the money, but it needs some repairs, updating, cleaning, and they need to stop allowing smoking in rooms. I chose this hotel for the indoor pool they offered. It would have been nice, but the pool and hot tub water definitly needed to be cleaned and filtered. Two of the four windows in the roof structure were in disrepair and did not work. The whole pool area needed cleaning. The free continental breakfast was nice, but very limited. It was my own fault for not noticing that I booked a smoking room, but really, they should stop this practice. The hotel grounds had plenty of covered and sheltered outdoor areas for smokers to use. My husband smokes, but would never smoke indoors. He even found that the smoke smell in the room was almost intollerable. With all that said, if they cleaned the pool and hot tub water, offered a some variety in the breakfast, this would have been an excellent value. The picnic/garden area were very nice.

Trip Type: Special Event Review 4 of 37Great room for the money
We were upgraded to a kitchenette with no change in price. The room was very clean and comfortable. They had a continental breakfast with adequate selections. It wasn't like we've had at other hotels, but for the price it was fine. I would definitely come back to this hotel next time we come up for the opera.

Trip Type: Family Review 5 of 37outstanding hotel
I picked this hotel after reading reviews. I agree that the breakfast is fantastic. The staff was great. The rooms were clean and comfortable. Loved the grounds. Didn`t look great from outside but once you were in I felt it was well worth it.

Trip Type: Family Review 6 of 37Nice location
We found the hotel to meet our expectations. We had a plumbing problem which was addressed promptly. The hotel is a 60s vintage so bathroom area was tight. For the price, we were quite satisfied and would stay again when in Santa Fe.

Trip Type: Family Review 10 of 37Good Deal
This hotel was an excellent deal and the room was comfortable and quiet. It is an older building, but well maintained. Located between the Plaza and Outlet Mall and a short drive to the Opera. Inexpensive dining located nearby, higher end dining a little drive down the road. The parking lot is small and the free breakfast 6-9:30 left something to be desired. We chose to eat out rather than partake in the free breakfast. Coffee was horrible, but excellent fruit! Nothing hot like waffles except instant oatmeal, just cold cereal and plain yogurt. The indoor pool was clean and the hot-tub was warm, not hot, but functional. My 10 year old loved playing ping-pong in the rec-room. Internet was down during our stay. This was a good budget end hotel that let us extend our vacation several extra days thanks to the savings over other hotels in the area.

Nothing fancy, but a good value. A bit of a drive to the plaza area.

Worked for us. Santa Fe is pretty cool, therefore, we weren't in the room much. But for a good, clean room over your head, this is hard to beat.

Trip Type: Family Review 13 of 37Pretty good
For the price (the cheapest we found that didn't get bad reviews), it was great! The only complaints would be that the breakfast room was hot. We just ate outside. Also, the part of the hotel with the kitchenettes was a little older and separate from the other part, but we knew that ahead of time because of the reviews on here. The staff was helpful, prompt, and not annoying. The lady who cleaned our room made sure we really didn't want our room cleaned every day. She was sweet. We also liked that there was no one directly adjacent to us because we had a toddler who cried some, and we didn't want to have to worry about it constantly.

The man at the front desk (we think the manager) was not friendly at all. However, the room was very clean & comfortable with minifridge & microwave. We spent little time at the hotel, really just there to bathe & sleep, so it worked out well.If you want posh surroundings where you'll want to hang out, this is not the place. If you want clean & comfortable to spend most of your time out seeing Santa Fe & the surrounding area, this place is a good value.

Trip Type: Family Review 15 of 37Best Surprise of the Trip
Having stayed in sveral lower cost hotels on a 7 day trip, the Lamplighter was our best surprise. It was spacious, comfortable, quiet and very clean. A real value in a town where hotels are typically over priced.
