Very nice hotel, hospitable host

We were pleased with our experience at Ambrose Bierce House. Very comfortable and charming room. The host was very nice and helpful with suggestions for other restaurants and spas. He was an excellent cook for our breakfast and even gave us a lesson on some of his dishes. The only complaint I have which wasn't under the control of the hotel was that 2 or 3 times during the night we were woken by the St. Helena fire house alarms. Apparently sometimes they go off and sometimes not. I suggest bringing earplugs!

Just Okay

Great Manager, nice room. Comforter and pillow shams were dirty with mascara. Just needs more attention to cleaning.
