Trip Type: Special Event Review 16 of 627Great deal, great hotel
About a block off of State street. Easy access to main attractions. Staff was very courteous. Old, but very nice.

Trip Type: Special Event Review 17 of 627Great Staff, Good Location
While this hotel is not in the middle of downtown, it is only a short walk to the subway and a short ride to downtown. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The rooms were on the smaller side, but we did not spend much time there so it wasn't an issue for us. The beds were very comfortable and overall the hotel is well kept considering it's age.

Trip Type: Business Review 19 of 627Charming neighborhood hotel
This is an old hotel with lots of history. Very charming. One block from the lake and within two blocks of great restaurants and shopping. I stayed here 15 years ago and it's very much the same. They still have the Author's suite where Ernest Hemingway stayed often. The room is filled with books signed by the authors. Of course it is home to the fabulous Pump Room restuarant; the hall is line with photographs of the stars who have dined here over the years. Keep in mind it is old but they do there very best to keep it clean. Highly recommended!

Trip Type: Family Review 20 of 627Historic hotel in very pleasant area of Chicago
We enjoy quality older hotels and the Ambassador East met all our expectations with a pleasant and helpful staff. The location, although a little north of the center of town, was away from the hustle and bustle and in a very pleasant area just two blocks from the lake.

Trip Type: Business Review 24 of 627Excellent Location
Excellent location to bars and restaurants. Staff was friendly. Decor was a little dated. The ceiling paint in my bathroom was peeling off. I'd stay in the hotel again.

Very friendly staff, the room was clean, but did not smell of cleaning products or perfumes. The bed and pillows were very comfortable.
