very cool hotel

i loved this place. just my style..with the exception of the dance music played in the bar. was hoping for more jazz. only other critique....the lights in our room were wired to where one main switch controlled power to the rest...so you had to turn on the bathroom light in order to turn on the living area light and the very cool reading sconces by the beds were not independantly controlled. oh...and the sheets were very rough. we took ours off and just used the fitting sheet and comforter and that worked fine. will definately stay there again.

Wonderful location, wonderful price!

I can't tell you how surprised I was to find such a great promotional offer online. I knew that the hotel was in a great area but didn't expect very nice accommodations, given the rate I was paying. I was thrilled to find a wonderful boutique hotel, with attentive staff, a comfy bed, a good sized bathroom and even a free bottle of water! Who does that anymore!?

Very Clean

A very nice experience.

Great Hotel

Only problem was the ventilation in the bathroom is loud and you can't shut it off. Additionally hotel has no room service or on-site restaurant so plan your meals accordingly. Bar does have some food items.

Great hotel with all basic amenities in a great location

The hotel was great, be it the comfortable bed, the contemporary decor, or the friendly service. I got a weekend deal and for the price, it was a steal! We had a small issue of the phones not working, but it was taken care of within an hour by the front desk. The hotel is pet friendly and our little poodle enjoyed the stay as well at no cost.

Trendy, Urban Atmosphere

If you do not want a trendy, urban atmosphere, then this hotel is not for you. Otherwise, this hotel is awesome! Customer service was friendly and welcoming. The girl that checked me in even moved me to the top floor when I requested a room on the highest floor available. =] Rooms were immaculate and modern looking, although the lighting system wasn't very smart. You couldn't turn on the bathroom light without turning on the main room light in the king-size bed room. They were also pet-friendly, requiring no pet deposit, only a waiver. The workout facility was also decently equipped, although the pool was kind of small. There were a lot of areas to lounge.

Aloft is A dud

This is definitely a hotel were style is put before substance. I have to give credit where it is due...location is awesome if you want to be right in the center of downtown b/c it is only a couple of blocks from the Galleria. It is well designed and and decorated and the style scheme is very interesting...this is what drew me to book a room here...but style points can only get you so far. First off...although they have their own parking garage (attached to the hotel) they make you pay to park. I absolutely loathe it when hotels make you pay for parking. Its equivalent to the grocery store charging me parking while I buy their merchandise. Second...breakfast is offered but only for a purchase. Third...the bedding is nice and comfy, but the bed is awful. Fourth...staff performs basic duties, but nothing outside of that...not warm or welcoming. I would not stay here again...it was nice, but nothing too remarkable or memorable about the experience.

Hip and Happening

This hotel was a great place to relax and live a little. The decor was upscale and modern. Outside bar area has a see through fireplace and the 10th floor provided a very nice scenic view of the city. Lovely!

Stylish, trendy, still working out kinks

A very stylish hotel, with nice amenities: splash pool, workout facility, bar, public computers, wi/fi. Rooms are adequately spacious for a boutique hotel. Bathrooms are especically nice and located behind the bed area, so it's easy to use the bathroom and not disturb your spouse in the bed. The doors to the rooms close very quietly, which is nice because you don't hear other people coming and going from their rooms, if you are trying to sleep or nap. I really appreciated this! Valet parking or self-parking ($10/day) in adjoining garage, which is convenient. Mini-fridge in room is also great, for storing drinks or food leftovers. My only complaint is that it is a new hotel and, therefore, it is still working out a few kinks. The cleaning service was a bit illogical when they cleaned my room. They left me with no toilet paper and threw away a paper grocery bag that I was keeping snacks in. The front desk was nice about resolving this issue, but needless to say, it was an inconvenience. Located near Galleria shopping mall and convenient to highways, especially if you are staying central or west of town.

Adorable Hip Galleria Digs

This was a great place to stay. It is new, hip and very cool. The bed was so comfortable and the room layout was great. Nice big plasma on the wall and very friendly staff. Cool bar with hip Houstonites having drinks. The only complaint was the torrential downpour of storm that blew through that night. I sounded like I was inside a metal lunchbox, and some traffic noise. Get a room on the higher floors. Very cute hotel.

Fabulous Hotel but the staff could be a little nicer

The ALoft is a great hotel. The room was clean, comfortable and had all the necessities. The hotel was in a great location. I enjoyed my stay but thought the staff could have been a little more friendly. The front desk staff was very sarcastic and caddy and the house keeping staff must have thought I was an inconvenience. I would stay at an ALoft again simply because it is a great room for the price.

Great room for the money

Pros: Very clean and modern rooms. Comfortable beddings. Convenient location (walking distance to the Galleria). Cons: $10/night for parking (paying for parking in TX is ridiculous) AC is quite loud.
