    The staff is great - our room was wonderful (except the shower seemed to get everywhere) - It was a place with plenty to do but could be extremely relaxing if that's what you choose. I would recommend this location with or without children.

    Hotel overall was nice. Front desk service not too good - when we checked in they had cancelled one of our rooms and asked for a credit card in order to give us a room. Front desk acted like they were doing us a favor by giving us a room. Only to find out the next day that the hotel wasn't nearly half full. Of course, there was no cancellation or refund given on our credit card. When we asked to look up reservation info on internet (hotels.com) they wanted to charge us an internet fee. We were told to speak to the hotel manager the next day - only he was never in the office over our 5 day stay to speak to us. Dining room and bar service was really good and servers very friendly. Food was just ok - typical all inclusive cafeteria. Mexican restaurant was horrible. There is only 3 choices for food, not eight as advertised (mexican, italian, and buffet). Two bars - one in lobby and one at pool/outside area. There was no fitness center. There are safes, but the hotel doesn't have enough keys for each room. We were lucky to get one to share at an additional charge. Because we went in May which is off season, the entertainment advertised did not happen. There was not one nightly performance on the stage area, only one night at dinner there was dancers. Nor did the disco open or stay open nightly. Pool was really nice, clean and large. Beach was also nice, with black sand and lots of shade. The hotel is in the middle of no where, so you are stuck staying in the compound unless you have a car. But the closest town is at least 30 minutes away.

Location. Allegro Papagayo All Inclusive is tucked along the ecologically rich, northwest coastal region of Guanacaste, Costa Rica. The hotel stands between the black sands of Manzanillo Beach and the mountains.

Hotel Features. Eight on-site restaurants and bars include Mexican and Italian buffet-style cuisine served at Los Corales. La Cantina prepares Tex-Mex fare while El Mirador boasts intimate bay-side atmosphere. Chill Out Bar and Disco Club offers nightly music and dancing. A business center, high-speed Internet access and flexible function space address the needs of corporate or social gatherings. Property amenities include motorized and non-motorized water sports, scuba-diving clinics and a fitness facility. An outdoor freeform pool with a children's section is ringed by an expansive sundeck where lounge chairs are arranged within a hillside setting. Located in the pool area, a sightseeing tower affords views of the bay. Additional resort amenities include tours arranged by the concierge, car rentals, a grocery and laundry facilities.

Guestrooms. This resort features 300 air-conditioned guestrooms with balconies or patios that provide partial-sea and garden views. Room décor includes warm pastel walls that provide a subtle background for bright, tropical print fabrics and terra-cotta floors. Among the room amenities offered are satellite television, coffeemakers, refrigerators, safe-deposit boxes (fees apply) and bathrooms with showers only.

Expert Tip. In addition to its on-site amenities, this resort provides a white-sand private beach accessed via a complimentary boat ride. This beach is the site of the hotel's Beach Club that provides a snack bar, lounge, beach chairs and towels.
