Airotel Stratos Vassilikos Hotel

Not a five star.

The hotel itself is not bad. It is clean and safe. The price is good and the neighborhood is safe. The breakfast is excellent. However, the hotel is not even close to a five star hotel. The hotel is located in a residential neighborhood and is relatively close to historical sites. There is a metro station about half a mile, but taxis are your best bet if you have luggage or come back to hotel late or with children. The staff is polite but not very efficient. We had two reservations, the first one for a two-nights stay and the other one for a one-night stay. We decided to just stay two nights and cancel the third (one-night stay reservation). We asked the staff about it and they told us if we cancel 24 hours before the third day, we will not be charged. Therefore, we did cancel and left. When we returned, we found that we were charged for the third night as well. That means either someone lied to us or someone did not do his/her job.

I spent just one night at the Stratos Vassilikos, and was impressed. The staff was friendly and helpful, the room pleasant, and the food in the hotel restaurant good (it was open late on a Sunday night which I appreciated as well). It is about a 10 minute walk to the nearest Metro station through a pleasant neighborhood, and from there a short 3 stop journey to the tourist sites at the center of old Athens. All in all, I was very pleased with this hotel.

Very nice hotel, clean and neat; complimentary large buffet breakfast; 2 blocks from direct airport bus or metro; all at reasonable price.

an absolute gem

I can't praise this hotel enough. The room was spectacular, the staff extremely attentive, the wi-fi was free, and there was a complimentary buffet breakfast that other hotels would have charged 15 euros for.

Beautiful hotel, Questionable service

The hotel is beautiful, clean lobby and nice rooms. The complementary breakfast buffet is excellent! The service to the rooms was fair. Several requests for extra blankets and making up pull-out-bed had to be made. "Bucket-of-ice" for wine requests led to a small bowl of ice being delivered, on numerous occasions. Still, I would recommend.

Very nice stay

I would definitely recommend this hotel to others. The room was a bit cramped, but satisfied our needs for our time there. The staff was extremely friendly and accomodating, and the complimentary breakfast was fantastic. The location is good as well. The hotel is 5 minutes from the center of Athens.

Concierge Service Needs Improvement

Although the accomodations were fantastic, I was extremely diassapointed with the way we were treated by the evening concierge, Kiki, at the Stratos Vassillikos Hotel. She was unecessarily rude, unwelcoming, cold, and unhelpful on a number of occassions. She clearly indicated by her harsh and negative voice tones and inflections that she did not wish to be bothered. One one particular occassion during our stay, simple information (about the charge for a phone call to the U.S.) was requested from her. She responded by stating in an irritable manner, "I don't know that!", before hanging up the telephone. Generally, I do not feel as though we were treated as though the staff was glad we had chosen to stay at their hotel.
